I've read that in Europe, when Copernicus, Giordano Bruno, and Galileo Galilei proposed that the Earth orbited the Sun, the Church considered it a threat to belief. Bruno was even burned at the stake, even though he was a priest! And Galileo was threatened with torture to retract his theory and put under house arrest.
I was wondering, what happened in the Muslim world when this new knowledge reached them? Are there records that say what the ulema and people said, and how they reacted? It's like a paradigm shift reached us, but we yawned and carried on with our lives.
