Haamilul Qur'aan

The mind of man is but a wandering wonder. Thoughts, of every walk in life, never seem to cease the invasion of its privacy. Thoughts of food and drink, thoughts of career and prosperity, thoughts of relationships with other mortals, and thoughts of one’s past, present, and future.
With all the blessings we are given in our lives, it is amazing and unfortunate how often we fail to think of our Creator. If we were to stop and contemplate the utter importance of all that we have been given in our lives, surely we would remember Him more in everything we say and all that we do.
But, without the vital component of remembrance, we can become ungrateful and unappreciative, and that loss of thoughtfulness begins to reflect on our words, our actions and finally on our souls. Devoid of remembrance, we become discontent with our lives and our spirits begin to search for their natural state: one of gratitude, acknowledgement and understanding of the great bounties and blessings of our Creator. Our souls search for this because our hearts, the essence of our beings are in constant yearning for His remembrance of us; and we especially feel that desperation in our times of need. Because of the importance of remembering our Creator, as believers of this great Deen, we do our souls an immense disservice if we neglect this vital component of our spiritual well-being.
Leaning towards everyday life, how often is it that we can reel off our favorite bands and their songs (and lyrics), yet we fail to remember even a few of the 99 Glorious Names of Allah and their meanings? Subhan’Allah, not often enough. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says in the Qur’an: "He is Allah, the Creator, the Originator, The Fashioner, to Him belong the most beautiful names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, do declare His praises and glory. And He is the Exalted in Might, The Wise. (Quran 59:24)
Learning, reciting, and memorizing the 99 Most Beautiful Names of Allah, clearly is an excellent form of Dhikr (remembrance or invocation of Allah). ‘Abd Allah ibn Busr (radiallahu ta’ala anhu) reported that a man said, “O Messenger of Allah, the Laws of Islam are too many for me, so tell me something that I may cling to.” The Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, replied, “Let your tongue never cease to be moist from invoking Allah.” (Related by al-Tirmidhi, Ibnu Majjah, al-Hakeem, and Ibn Hibban).
The following is a recitation of the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah by Qari Ayoob bin Essak, a teacher at Darul Uloom Zakariyya, South Africa. Subhan’Allah, this is by far the most beautiful recitation of Asma ul Husna I have ever heard (I'm sorry, I must disagree with you all (http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=392)). Alhamdulilah, Qari Ayoob is slow enough and clear enough for young children to learn to recite the 99 Names of Allah as well. Below the recitation, is a link to an excellent website where you can follow along and recite with the Qari.
"The most beautiful names belong to Allah: so call on Him by them..." (7:180)
