:salam:

This might seem nitpicky, but this issue has been bothering me for a while...hopefully someone here can provide some insight on the matter before I get the chance to ask a scholar.

In an article entitled "The Fiqh of Eid" (there's a copy on SunniPath...and I'm pretty sure I've seen people post it here in the past, though I can't find it at the moment), there is a section called "miscellaneous rulings", which states the following:

"If a person uproots his hair, the root of that hair is regarded as impure because of the stickyness that is found on it. (Shaami)"

In my (limited) study of Hanafi fiqh, this is the only place I have seen such a ruling. So I have a few questions related to this:

1. What stickiness is being referred to, and on what basis is it impure?

2. If someone rubs his body (for example, during wudu, when one is applying lotion, or oiling their head/beard) and some hair comes out in the process, would that spread this impurity somehow? By the same logic, wouldn't this make water/food in which hair has fallen impure?

3. Is this a unique Hanafi position? It seems weird (to me anyway), seeing as how hair (by itself) and non-flowing substances are considered pure.
