Assalamaualaykum wa Rahmatullah. Alhamdulillah, Allah has blessed me with the ability to go to Madinah soon, but I had a few questions before I go.
(1) Can I ask the Prophet (S) for anything except for Shifaa'? i.e., may I say "Ya RasulAllah, please come in my dream," or "Ya RasulAllah, help me with my problems," or "Ya RasulAllah, help me find a shaykh."
(2) When I say Ya Nabi Salaam Alayka here, in the USA, can he hear it in Madinah? Or can he only hear it in Madinah?
(3) May we recite Burdah at the grave of the Prophet (S)?

Questions that must be answered, I am not capable of answering it with DIRECT Islamic knowledge but I know that what my answers are probably the answers of the majority of the people here.
1) You can ask Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w) for these things including Shif'aa You arent asking him as he is your lord, You are asking him to make Du'a for you because Your Du'a is weak and therefore he is more capable of doing so.
2) Yes, Rasullulah Can here your Salawat wherever you may be, How can Shaytan be able to whisper in the ears of all humanity and the greatest of creation be limited to only hearing in Madina? Surely Allah has given power and sight and sound to his beloved Prophet. Also there is a Hadith, forgive me for not knowing the exact place but I am sure it is in Bukhari and Muslim in where Rasullulah (s.a.w) says that if you make one salawat to him, he sends 10 back at you, showing that no matter where you are he can hear your salawat.
3)Unfortunatly the Maqam of Rasullulah (s.a.w) is controlled by Salafi's and you wont be able to recite Burdah Sharif at his Maqam, but again I say that it makes no difference where you recite it, he can and will hear you, If you wish you can recite it in your heart, almost everyone knows how great of a salawat Burdah Sharif is. Go there to honor and show love to your Prophet (S.a.w) but also protect yourself from the Salafi's and don't get in anyones way because you have the urge to say Burdah at his Maqam, He can hear you and he will send his peace and blessings to you as you are doing to him, 10 fold mind you. Remember the story of Imam Busiri and how he was paralyzed, he wrote this Salawat to Prophet and Prophet came to him in his dream and cured his paralysis, this also proves he can hear you wherever you may be, forgive me for any inaccuracies I just didn't see anyone else posting on this question and it is very important that we answer these questions so you may know the limitless boundries of your Prophet and know that he can hear you.

as-salamu alaykum
i fear that this question will bring out the usual arguments in our community.
there are subtle differences of opinion amongst our traditional ulama concerning at least 2 points.
not lack of love for Rasulullah (peace be upon him) - just difference of opinion.
i really dont know what the majority of ppl on this particular forum believe, all i know is that noone can dispute the fact that Rasulallah (peace be upon him) is the best of creation and his status is the greatest imaginable in the 'eyes' of Allah taAla.
i think we should unite on the commonalities within our diverse community.
i think that is something that Rasulullah (peace be upon him) would love dearly.

it is Allah who sends the 10 fold blessing and not his Habib salallahu `alaihi wa sallam.

yes, why not , maybe like so :
ya Muhammad Mustafa faryaad hai
ya Habeeb-e-Kibriya Faryaad hai
sakht Mushkil Me Phansa Hoon Aajkal
ai Mere Mushkil Kusha faryaad hai

yes why not ?

yes, if you are in control of yourself and can manage to, but do not raise your voice. further it depends whether you will be allowed to or not and if you will have the time.
