I think that this is rather obvious hence the necessity of devoting a thread specifically to getting names of non-subcontinental Hanafi scholars.

That's not true.

Care to expand on that brother?

Shaykh Buti and Shaykh Wahbah Zuhaily are both shafi'i.

Other hanafis include Shaykh Abdul Latif Farfur, the eldest son of Shaykh Muhammad Salih Farfur (Founder of Ma'had al-Fath), who wrote a taqriz for the version of al-Muhannad edited by Mufti Ibn Adam.

I was always under the impression that Shaykh Wahbah was shafi'i since a brother studying in Syria told me that he was shafi'i. The shaykhs brother Muhammad also has a book on mu'tamad shafi'i fiqh.

I'm positive that he is Hanafi.

It seems he is shafi'i after all.
Here is what Mufti Husain Sahib mentioned on another thread:

"I personally spoke to Sh. Wahbah on the phone on Saturday, where he confirmed being a Shafi’i Ash’ari."
