JazakuAllahkhairun.

can someone purchase tickets for the event right now and reserve them?

Yup, tickets are already available for sale online, Buy them soon cuz they sell out fast!

Also admission to MuslimFest is free, U dont have to pay to attend the interactive classes or the gallery. The only things that require paid admission are the puppet show, nasheed concert and the comedy show.

So if u dont want to pay, u can still drop by to appreciate the wonderful pieces of art.

This event is Goldi recommended *thumbsup*

What a breath of fresh air. I'm going to try and get into the act by doing a stand-up piece. Let's see how it turns out.

True...This event is really nice...I was a volunteer for it last year...save Insha'allah the second time around it'll be more better...it was actually supposed to be segragated last year except the 'family' area...but the Living Arts Centre mixed up the tickets in the end...thus we had brothers in the sisters area...and sisters in the brothers area...and it turned into a 'FAMILY' section everywhere...

Khair...the brothers were quite courteous and most of them sat at the far back...and let the ladies sit in the balcony front...

Khair the performances were good...but umm...well...the drums did get deafening at times...but I'm a big fan of Zain Bhikha and he really ourshone the event Masha'allah...

The Islamic Art Exhibit was AWESOME masha'allah...so many pieces of art...all compliant with the shariah (as far as I remember)...and the creative workshops were pretty good too...especially for calligraphy as people have mentioned earlier...

Khair...nice event...for nasheeds etc. Insha'allah, we'll...I guess I feel obligated to say that after volunteering for it...but it should be 'Muslimfest' Crew get better at it Insha'allah...

Assalaamu alaikum,

Is it just me, or someone else out there also is not in favour of bringing musical instruments on stage at Muslimfest. Last year I was totally shocked by the performance of the nasheed artists. The stage was packed with instruments, and some used recorded background music.

The drawings of animating objects in the gallery was also a concerning issue. :(

I didn't like that either...

Khair...What can ya do...we had controversial Maple Lodge Farms as sponsorship as well...

Animated stuff in the art gallery...hmm...the only dodgy thing I saw was the pictures by that Falasteeni dude...nice art but it'd be better if he stuck with inanimity.

Its important to note this is not an event to increase knowledge of Islam...but a dawah opportunity.

Its open to NON Muslims and Non practicing Muslims...who are scared by the conference/speeches/reviving spirits bit...(Which I don't understand why...those are wayyyyyyyy better)

Anywyz...Tis got quite annoying with DWA's saga...and his Fletcher's drummers...err...could u say ouch on the ears...

Pots and pans...and drums...one looked like that Kuba drum...

IT was really oddish...but U see...there was still Zain Bhikha...and he sticks to non daff...

The richard corey bit in the concert was odd...

And there's always been controversy around the film showing bit...

On the plus side...Islamic Calligraphy was gorgeous...and we got to see Muslim Artists works that collaborated with the Shariah Alhamdulillah (THis part of the exhibit is free so if you're not into drummy nasheeds just check that out) Or you can go for Allah made me Funny bit too...

Controversy surrounds this event...at your own will basically...but the art exhibits are awesome and good to bring non muslim + muslim colleages too...

Assalaamu alaikum,

^^ agree with you in most parts sister.
Correct me if I am wrong, but there seemed to be less "scholar involvement" in the organization of the event, and I believe that's the main reason for the many controversies.
