Salaah questions, hanafis please help

When I pray Salaah I normally read:

1ST RAKAT
Subhanakallhumma
auuthobillah...
bismillah...
al-fatihah...
another surah

ALL RAKATS thereafter:
alfatihah
another surah

I've been told that your supposed to read bismillah before al fatihah in EVERY rakat and you're supposed to read bismillah after al-fatihah whenever you're gonna read a surah.

Can someone please confirm this. Also, are my previous prayers still valid the way I have been performing them?

Brother, Tasmiyah (Bismillah) is not fardh, it's Mustahab to recite it before Al-Fatiha, so you don't have to worry about that. Also, in the 3rd and 4th Rakaat you don't have to recite another surah after Al-Fatiha.

Assalamualaykum i just wanted to point out that in fardh salah no additional suras should be read after al fatiha, however in wajib, nafl, sunnah salah an additional sura must be read (wajib) forgetfulness to read another sura (or part of one) will therefore necessitate sajda sahw.

Is it compulsory to recite another surah after surah al-Fatiha during a voluntory(nafilah) prayer

Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh



Qira'at (recitation) of Surah al Fatiha with another Surah is Wajib (compulsory) in every Rakat in Nafl (optional) prayer as well as the Witr Salaah.[1]

For fardh salah are you refering to first two rakah or second 2 rakahs?
