Salam Alaykum
I have read some Islamic sites where it is mentioned that unlike the Bible, the Quran gives the view that the flood overtaking Nuh's people was a "localized" flood and not worldwide. It is said this is important because the Bible's account is impossible, since there is no evidence that life stopped altogether on the entire earth such a short time ago.
However, I think from reading certain Ahadeeth and classical Tafseers of the concerned Ayat, one would get the idea that the flood during Nuh's time was viewed as global by almost all Muslim scholars.
So some clarification on this matter would be appreciated.
