salaam,
The Talmud (תלמוד) is considered an authoritative record of rabbinic discussions on Jewish law, Jewish ethics, customs, legends and stories. It is a fundamental source of legislation, customs, case histories and moral exhortations

Ring of Power? Sounds like a rip-off of Lord of the Rings to me (which by the way is an EXCELLENT novel and I recommend it to anyone who has time on his hands).
Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Did Shaykh Faraz read that?
Anyways - THAT is a waste of time (unlike Shakespeare!)

You know its pretty sad but JRR Tolkien has ripped off our sagas...not the other way around
Another dude who ripped off Islam...is that dude who wrote the Dune Chronicles...which is a waste of time...stupid book that bashes Mahdi (AS) and calls Muslims indirectly simply blinded followers and barbaric folks...

i reckon george lucas took a fair amount of stuff from sufi literature and applied into the star wars films.
i mean, look at the jedi's man - 'keeper's of the peace' yet always prepared to kick off if required, but even then not in order to kill - and only if necessary. also, all that jedi mind tricks and 'the force' is just a representation of the karama of the awliya'. only thing is, sufi's aren't celibate - (although some did not marry, because they felt it would distract them from the path).
and the dark side - well, thats just a mainfestation of a 'deviant sufi', someone who makes the the true athentic tasawwuf look bad, and perverts it to his own ends. or it could just be sufi's turned extremist-jihadi.

...and i forgot to say, only a few jedis are left at the end of it.
kind of like now - the rightly-guided scholars of great calibre are falling in number and people are taking the ignorant as their leaders.

True...although never thought of the Star wars saga like that...
Hmm...i guess your right about the LoTR thing...more off Hinduism...but the Dune Chronicles were an intense waste of time...
I didn't know much about the sufi novel...but apparently this Muslim Writers group kind of advertised Muslim's novels...
and this was one of them...and I was like...hmm...sounds interesting...lets see what others think...
Dunno anything about the author other than what's mentioned on the website...so...

wats the Talmud?
Salamun 'Alaik. Wasn't the Thalmud revealed to Dawud (Pbuh)? I recommend you 'Lives of the Prophets' (Pbut) by Imam Anwar al-Awlaki. Its really descriptive and precise. He uses Ibn Kathir's 'Al Bidaya Wa Nihaya'.
Is the book a fiction? If so; then is it permissible?
Salaam.

I didn't bother reading the books...a long time ago...dunno where...walking by some Sci fi store or something...all I hear is Mahdi Mahdi Mahdi...and I"m like huh?
it goes Dune Chronicles...
I"m like what's that?
Looked it up on WIkepedia some time later...and figured out how much nonsense and blah blah blah works they are...euch...do not think a Muslim would belittle themself to write such a horrible work of literature...that book isn't even worthy of being called literature...blech...
