Assalaamu'alaikum wr wb,

Can we share the beautiful ashaar/poems of our pious elders? it would be great if the writer (if possible a very brief profile) is added...and translation would help brothers from other languages comprehend (apologies for not being able to do that below).

Hazat Khaja Azeezul Hasan Majzub (RA) - Khalifa of Hazat Thanwi (RA).

Ab to rehe bas taa dame aakhir wirde zabaań a mere ilah
La Illaha Illallah, La Illaha Illallah

Tere siwa ma'bude haqeeqi koi nahień he koi nahień
Tere siwa makhsude haqeeqi koi nahień he koi nahień
Tere siwa maujhude haqeeqi koi nahień he koi nahień
Tere siwa mash'hude haqeeqi koi nahień he koi nahień
Ab to rehe bas taa dame aakhir wirde zabaań a mere ilah

Ab to rehe bas taa dame aakhir wirde zabaań a mere ilah
La Illaha Illallah, La Illaha Illallah

Nafs O shaytaań donoń ne milkar haay kiaa he mujh ko tabah
A mere mola meri madad kar chahta huń me teri panaah
Mujh sa khlaq me koi nahień go bad kirdaro namah siyah
Tu bhi magar ghaffar he yaa Rab bakhsh de mere saare gunah
Ab to rehe bas taa dame aakhir wirde zabaań a mere ilah
La Illaha Illallah, La Illaha Illallah

Mujh ko saraapa zikr banade zikr tera a mere khuda
Nikle mere har bune mu see zikr tera a mere khuda
Ab to kabhi chore bhi nah chute zikr tera a mere khuda
Halq se nilke sańs he badle zikr tera a mere khuda.
Ab to rehe bas taa dame aakhir wirde zabaań a mere ilah
La Illaha Illallah, La Illaha Illallah

I like this one I heard in Hazat Maulana Hakeem Akhtar sab db's bayaan:

Dushmanon ko aish-e-aab-o-gul diya,
doston ko apna dard-e-dil diya,
unko saahil par bhi tughyaani mili,
humko toofaanon mein bhi saahil diya!!

Near translation:
The enemies were given pleasures of the world,
And friends were given His pain in the heart,
They faced a tsunami even at the shores,
And we were blessed with a shore in the midst of a storm!!!

Ok, OK....please dont forget that it was a beautiful poem looking at my translation attempts....capturing it in english doesnt seem possible!

Someday I will post the whole poem inshAllah, my favorite, from Hazat Khaja Azeezulhasan Majzub Ra...

...
Ye kiske liye jaan dene chala hoon,
Chali aa rahi hai qaza hoor hokar!,
Ajab ek mu'amma sa main bangaya hoon,
na mukhtaar hokar, na majboor hokar!!!...

Translation attempt:
For whom am I walking to lay down my life for?
That death itself approaches like a hoor of paradise,
A strange puzzle that I have become,
Neither deliberately, nor out of desperation...

Again from Hazat Khaja Azeezulhasan Majzub Ra...

Tamanna hai ke ab koi jagah aisi kahin hoti,
Akele baithe rehtey yaad unki dil-nasheen hoti...

Translation attempt

I have a wish that there was a place somewhere,
I would be alone and His remembrance would be my heart-warmer!

Haz Khaja sab (rah)...

Mahve ghaflat yeh teri hasti nahi...
dekh jannat is khadar sasti nahi...
reh guzar duniya hai yeh basti nahi,
ja(g)ah-e-aish-o-ishrat-o-masti nahi

Translation attempt (it seems to be getting worse with each thread : ( )
getting intoxicated by derailment, this is not your stature..
Remember, paradise isnt so cheap...
transitory the world is, and not a place to stay...
and not a place to freak out, enjoy and make fun!

How sad, nobody is contributing!

anyway...

One by ghalib - inspite of all his stupidities and transgression, he has said some wonderful ashaar..some of his ashaar are quoted by our elders... who can forget the sher that hazatji maulana Ilyas sab (rah) used to say in his worry for the ummah....

Bak raha hoon junoon mein kya kya kuch,
Kuch na samjhe khuda karey koi....

I have heard that he was a reformed man at his end..there is one of his couplet that I read which goes like..

Dar-e-waapasi ab sar-e-raah hai,
azeezon! ab bas Allah hi Allah hai..

Translation attempt:
The door to retun is at the threshold of my path,
Friends! now its just Allah, only Allah....

One more that I found recently,

Banaakar faqeeron ka bhes hum ghaalib,
tamasha-e-ahl-e-karam dekhtey hain...

I dont know what he tried to mean out of it, but I felt it is:

Donning the attire of the beggars,
I see the drama of His benevolence...

I love these lines told by Colonel Ameeruddin Sab (db) the great tablighi buzurg from hyderabad. In his late nineties; over 5000 people accepted islam on his hand. Nurtured by Hazatji yusuf sab rah. Very daring, his real life incidents sound like fairytales of adventure!

The lines are of Allama Iqbal (ra)... I am using (ra) for the allama because I have heard from very reliable source that hazatji Ilyas sab (ra) on allama iqbal's death stated that its the first time that a beard-cutter has entered the line of the wali-ullah!

These lines were taken by Colonel Sab db when he was describing his tablighi travails where he used to go for 4, 4 months putting a resignation to his jobs. It's sacrifices of these elders and the beginning people of tabligh, that the work has reached to today's stage..

"maghrib ki waadiyon mein,
goonji azaan hamari,
thamta na tha kisi se,
sailey ravaan hamara"

--In the valleys of the west,
echoed our azaan,
nobody could stop,
the flow of our journeys...

When he used to say thamta na tha kisi se lines I felt such a surge of adrenaline...coming from a warrior of the efforts of deen, it was infectious and effective like only a man who made it happen can bring...may Allah Ta'ala bless us with the shadow of our elders forever....

Dil se har tamanna rukhsat hogayi
Ab toh aaja Ab toh Khilwat hogayi

Khawaja Aziz ul Hasan [RA]

Can some one translate? :jazak:
jazaakAllahu khaira..

every desire has left my heart...
atleast come over now, for now my heart is secluded...

I have heard that hazat thanwi (ra) said that if I had a kingdom, I would have written it on your name for this couplet!

The Poet Ghaalib said:
"Ishq ne hame Ghaalib, nikammaa kardiyaa
warnaa ham bhi aadmi the kaam ke"
Illicit love O Ghaalib has made you unworthy
when actually you were a man of worth

Hazrat Muhammad Ahmed Partaapghadi changed it to:
"Ishq ne hame Ahmed, mujallaa kardiyaa
warnaa ham bhi aadmi the naam ke"
True love (love for Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala) O Ahmed, has enlightened you
when actually you were a man of name only

sorry about the translation..if anyone can do better please do

ساری دنیا آپ کی حامی سہی،
ہر قدم پر مجھ کو ناکامی سہی،

نیک نام اسلام پر رکھے خدا،
خلق کے حلقے میں بدنامی سہی

Sari Dunya Aap ki haami sahi,
har Qadam per mujh ko nakami sahi,

nayk naam islam per rakhhay khuda,
khalq kay halqay main badnaami sahi,

Translation :

May the whole world be your ally
May I fail in every step I take ( for world )

May Allah keep my respect in Islam
I can bear if the whole world talks of my infamy

[ Majzoob Rahimahullah ]

ظفر آدمی اُس کو نہ جانیئے گا، خواہ ہو کیسا ہی صاحبِ فہم و زکا،
جسے عیش میں یادِ خدا نہ رہی جسے طیش میں خوفِ خدا نہ رہا،

Zafar! Don't consider him a human, no matter how intellectual and wise he is,
if he doesn't remember God in prosperity and if he doesn't fear God in anger,

Bahadur Shah Zafar ( Although not from akabir or sulaha, but this couplet is very influential )

maashAllah...nice ones from sister ummitaalib and brother Usman...jazaakAllahu khaira

When I see our elders I get reminded of a couplet that Haz Hakeem Akhtar sab db regularly says:

Jahan jaatey hain hum tera fasaana chhed dete hain,
koi mehfil ho tera rang-e-mehfil dekh lete hain....

Translation attempt

Wherever we go, we see to it that Your story gets invoked,
whatever the group, we see to it that it is bathed in your colour...

Masha'Allah,

Hazrat Zaki Kaifi Rahimahullah said :

تیرے جلووں نے نگاہوں سے چھپا دی ہر شے،
تو بھری بزم میں ہم کو نظر آیا تنہا،

Your visions blurred out everything from the sight
You alone could we see in the whole crowd

Hazrat Wala Maulana Hakeem Akhtar sahib Damat Barakatuhu ( or I think Hz. Majzoob Rahimahullah )

جب مہر نمایاں ہوا تو چھپ گئے تارے،
وہ بھری بزم میں ہم کو تنہا نظر آیا،

When the Sun rises, the stars disappear,
we could see Him only in all the crowd

Hazrat Zaki Kaifi Rahimahullah :

دشتِ پُر خار میں ساتھ اہلِ سفر نے چھوڑا،
رہ گیا ساتھ میرے بس، میرا سایہ تنہا،

This is written right when you enter masjid Ashraf in Khanqah :

ہمارا مرکزِ امیدِ رحمت آپ کا در ہے،
کسی کے در پہ تو یا رب یہ پیشانی نہیں جاتی،

The center of our hope for mercy is your doorstep,
this forehead doesn't bow to any other doorstep O Lord except you

Keep em coming!

maashAllah,

Haz Hakeem Akhtar sab (db)

Jo chaman se guzrey to aye saba tu yeh kehna bulbul-e-zaar se,
ke khizaan ke din bhi hain saamney, na lagana dil ko bahar se…

Translation attempt

When you pass by the gardens, o breeze, convey this to the nightingale…
That the days of autumn are ahead, so don’t give away your heart to the spring

It conveys that death and the trials of aakhirah are in front so don’t indulge in the passing beauty of the materialistic world

Another one from hazat maulana (db)'s speech in which he quoted these lines from a poetry of gulzar-e-ibrahim (and recommended to read this book):

Ka'ba mein paida karey zindeeq ko,
Laavey buth khaaney se wo siddique ko

Ahliya looth-e-nabi ho kaafira
Zauja-e-firaun hovey taahira,

Zaada-e-aazar khaleelullah ho,
Aur kun'aan nooh ka gumraah ho,

Dair ko masjid karey masjid ko dair
Ghair ko apna karey apney ko ghair

Fahem se baala khudaayi hai teri
Aql se bartar khudaayi hai teri….

Translation attempt:

Ais born in ka'ba, (refers to abu jahal)
And siddique is born in an idol-shop;

The wife of looth(as) becomes an infidel,
And the one of fir'aun becomes a pure one! (refers to aasia (as))

The son of aazar becomes the friend of Allah, (aazar was an idol worshipper, refers to Ibrahim (as))
While that of nooh (as) goes astray,

Dair is made into a masjid and masjid is made into a dair (dunno what dair is)
A stranger is made His own, and His own is made a stranger

Above comprehension are Your divine ways,
Beyond intellect are Your divine ways….

Nigahon mein mere sama mere Maula
mujhe Apna jalwa dikha mere Maula
kiya maine aghyaar se dil ko khali
mere khana -e-dil mein aa mere Maula

Jise mein parkha,jidhar maien dekha
Tujhe har jagh maine mojood paya
Tu har cheez mein hai niha mere Maula
Tu har shae mein jalwanuma mere Maula

mujhe chahiye sirf teri tawajoh
nahi ghair se mujh ko koi tawakko
Tujhi se main fariyad karta hun hardum
Tu hi hai mera aasara mere Maula

koi Tujh se barh kar pyara nahi hai
bazus Tere koi sahara nahi hai
mujhe ab judai ka koi yara nahi hai
na de furqaton ki saza mere Maula

ye mana k banda ye aasi bara hai
magar Teri rehmat se pala para hai
Tere ishq ka ek sawali khara hai
sharab- e- muhabbat pila mere Maula

nighaon mein meri sama mere Maula
mujhe Apna jalwa dikha mere Maula

wa ahsano minka lam tara qatto ayni
wa akmalo minka lam talidin nisa'oo
khuliqta mubarra'an min kulley aibin
ka annaka qad khuliqta kama tasha'oo

My eyes have never seen more beautiful/complete than You
The women have not given birth to a more perfect than You
You have been created free from any defects
As if You were created as You wished

Meri aankh ne tujhse zyada khubsurat shakhs nahi dekha
Tujhse zyada sahibe jamal kabhi kisi aurat ne nahi jana
Aap har 'aib se is tarah paak aur saaf hai
Jaise aap apni marzi aur pasand se paida hue hain

The Poet, Ghaalib said (keeping in mind his sins):
"Ka'bah kis mhu se jaa-o-ge e Ghaalib,
sharm tujhe nahin aati?"
with what face will you go to the Ka'bah O Ghaalib,
do you not have any shame?

Hazrat Muhammad Ahmed Partaapghadi changed it to:
"Mein isi mhu se Ka'bah jaa-ungaa
sharm ko khaak mein mitaaungaa
Unko ro ro ke mein apnaa banaa-ungaa
apni bigri hui ko yu banaa-ungaa

Kyaa samajte hein log is ta'luk kaa
agar so baar tute ye rishtaa muhabbat kaa
so baar ro ro kar, manaa kar rishtaa jorungaa"

with this very face i will go to the Ka'bah
shame i will ignore
I will cry and make up and join this broken relationship.
What do people think?
If a hundred times this love relationship breaks
a hundred times I will cry and mend it

Cannot do justice to the words in English!

One that I instantly remember from Hazat's bayaan is that Hazat Muhammed Ahmed sab (rah) saw a dream in which he was alone on a boat in a sea...and then huzoor saws and haz ali rz came in another boat..and huzoor saws asked ali rz to join the boat with that of Hazat Md Ahmed sab rah...The shaykh used to remember this dream with a humble happiness and used to recite that the knocking sound that came when the two boats touched, still fill my heart with joy when I remember it; and used to say this couplet...

"muztarab dil ki tasalli ke liye
hukm hota hai milaado naav ko..."

to soothen a burning heart,
its ordered, 'join the boats'....

These lines are from Saadi Shiraazi rah...and are very famous in praise of aaqa (saws)

Hasunat jami`u khisalihi
Sallu `alaihi wa aalihi.

“He attained the highest reaches with his perfection صلي الله عليه و سلم
He lifted all darkness with his beauty صلي الله عليه و سلم
Tremendous are all his traits صلي الله عليه و سلم
Send blessings upon him and his folk.”

And shah wali-ullah muhaddith dehalvi rah beautifully said...(the last line is particularly famous)

Ya Sahib al Jamal e wa Ya Syed al Bashar…
Mi(n) wajhikal Munir o laqad nuwwiral qamar..
La yumkin us sana o kamaa kaana haquhu…
Bad Az KHUDA Buzurg Tui qissa mukhtasar..

The last two lines can be translated as :

In short, after Allah, you are the most exalted!

jazaakAllahu khaira...nice contribution...our ulema have answers to every one...another reply to ghaalib's stupid lines that go like ( i dont remember them correctly)...

peeney do mai mujhe masjid mein,
warna aisi jagah bataavo jahan par khuda nahi..

let me drink wine in the masjid,
or show me a place where there is no Allah...

it was thought to be such an intelligent thing to say, by the other stupids....and our ulema-e-ikraam gave such a befitting reply...not only did they show a place, it was a place where none could go and thus he had no option of drinking yet!!!...

Peeni hai tujhe mai to jaa kaafir ke dil mein pi,
wahi aisi jagah hai jahan par khuda nahi!!!

If you want to drink wine, go and drink in the heart of an infidel,
thats the only place where there is no Allah...

May Allah paak exalt the rank of our ulema-e-ikraam who have always put on their sincere efforts and sacrifices to shield deen from attacks and attempts of ridicules...

That reminds me of some beautiful lines by Haz Khaja sab rah again...a real soother, confidence-booster to sinners like me...

"Jo naakaam hota rahey umr bhar bhi,
bahar-haal koshish to aashiq na chhodey,
yeh kissa muhabbat ka qaayam hi rakkhey,
jo sau baar tootey to sau baar jodey"

and

Na chit kar sakey nafs ke pahlwaan ko,
To yoon haath paanv bhi dheely na daaley,
arey is se kushti to hai umr bhar ki,
Kabhi wo dabaaley kabhi tu dabaaley

If one keeps failing all-through his life,
Even then a lover mustnt stop trying,
The thread of love should be kept intact,
If it breaks hundred times, it should be joined a hundred times…

Hazrat Khaja Sab

Ma'arifat itni hi kaafi hai tareekh e ishq ke vaste
Yeh samajh main aagaya hai WOH samajh se bahar hai

Ita'aton main lagta nahin dil
is khayal ki taraf bhi najaana
Dil ka lagna nahin hai farz tujhpe
Tera to farz hai dil lagaana

Hazrat Hakeem Akhtar Sab

Meri chashme Tar khoon barsa rahi hai
Jahan bhi kahin sang o dar paa rahi hai
Meri aah ki kuch khabar laa rahi hai
Saba aaj bachashm e tar aarahi hai
Basad shauq behr e talatum ke andar
Meri naao zer o zabar jaa rahi hai
Tujhe jazbe khursheed shabnam mubarak
Su e yaar be baal o par jaa rahi hai
Hai masroor dil ki tabahi pe akhtar
ke har su tajalli nazar aa rahi hai

Allama Iqbal

Wohi meri kam naseebi wohi teri be niazi
Mere kaam kuch na aaya mera kamal e ne nawazi
Isi kash ma kash main guzri meri zindagi ki raatein
Kabhi soz o saaz RUMI kabhi pech o tab RAZI
Woh fareb khurda shaheen jo pala ho kargason main
Use kya khabar ke kya hai andaz e shahbaazi

kab yaaron ko tasleem nahi kab koi aduu inkaari hai
is ku-e-talab mein hum ne dil ko nazar kia, jaa'n waari hai

jab saaz-e-silasal bajtay thay, hum apnay lahuu se sajtay thay
wo rasm abhi tak baaki hai, wo rasm abhi tak jaari hai

jab parcham-e-jaa'n lay kar niklay, hum khaak-nashee'n maktal maktal
us waqt se lay kar aaj talak jallad pay haebat taari hai

Kuch ahle sitam ahle hasham yeh fahna giran main aaye the
Dehlez ko dekhke choddiya dekha ke yeh patthar bhaari hai

zakhmon se badan gulzaar sahi, tum unke shikasta teer gino
khud tarkash walay bata dein gay, ye baazi kis ne haari hai

If you are referring to Hazat Muhammad Ahmed pratapgarhi rah...then who else to mention as a khalifa than the great Hazat maulana Hakeem akhtar sab db...search www.khanqah.org and you might get something...

Jazak Allah for this beautiful thread brother saalik

The incident that you have mentioned above, however, is about Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdul Ghani Phoopuri R.A, the second Shaykh of Hazrat Wala Db.

Hazrat Wala had khilaafat from his 3rd Shaykh Hazrat Maulana Abrar Ul Haq Sahab R.A(Khalifa Hazrat Thanvi R.A)

Shaikhul hadeeth Maulana Mansoor luknaasar(?) sab db khalifa of Hazat shah Md Hakeem Akhtar sab db

Khuda ke ishq mein hain qalb hee jaley bhi kitney
Haraam khushiyon mein aayenge zalzaley bhi kitney

Haraam cheezon ki lazzat ney chheeni qalb ki poonji
Haraam khwaahishein lootengi khaafiley bhi kitney

Abhi to aaye hain baalon mein chand taar sunehri,
Shabaab-e-husn ke tootenge silsiley bhi kitney

Abhi to shaikh ke kadmon mein rakh rahi hai mera dil
Nikaalne hain muhabbat ko hausley bhi kitney

Hamaarey dard ke chheenton sey yoon sametna daaman
Dabaaye qalb mein baithey hain valvaley bhi kitney..

Hai jaana khoon ke dariya mein doob kar bhi Naasir,
Kathin hain raahey muhabbat mein, marhaley bhi kitney!!

Khuda ke ishq mein hain qalb hee jaley bhi kitney
Haraam khushiyon mein aayenge zalzaley bhi kitney…

Translation is killing the mean, moreover it requires patience and a lot of reference...however, a feeble attempt:-

So many hearts have burnt in the love of Allah
So many volcanoes erupt inside when someone enjoys Haraam pleasures

The joy out of Haraam things have snatched the heart of its wealth,
And haraam desires rob so many caravans

Its just now that a few golden strands have come in my hair,
How many chains, of beauty of the youth, will end up breaking…

Its just now that I am putting my heart in the feet of my shaikh,
So many adventures will love bring out

With the splashes of my pain you gather the cloth,
How many surging emotions I have suppressed in my heart

Have to go swimming through a river of blood, if so, Naasir
Difficult are the paths of love, and obstacles so many!

Hazat Khaja sab rah - perhaps I am stopping people from benefitting from these lines by posting all of them at one place....I shall break them up later inshAllah so each stanza is read with focus...each stanza is a summary of Hazat Thanwi rah's islaahi sessions....and has so profound and helpful advises, some very difficult knots in sulook and deen are so easily and simply handled in them...I found my baby steps in deen through these ashaar...and they were my source of strength, support, hope, joy and confidence in a period when the whole world seemed against me....when I just started embracing true islam (or rather practicing it)..Shall post the translation soon inshAllah...

Raahbar to bas bataadeta hai raah
Raah chalna rahrou ka kaam hai,
Tujhko rehbar le chaleyga dos par
Yeh tera rahrou khayaalekhaam hai

Jila kardaye dast e dildaar hoon main
Siya dil tha yaar ab puranwaar hoon main
Sawaara hai kis darjey bigdey huvey ko
Mujhe dekh, aayina e yaar hoon main

Soch maazi ko na isteqbaal ko,
Thheek rakh tu to bas apne haal ko
Kya huva kya hoga is gham mein na pad
Tu abas karley na is jinjaal ko

Tu ho kisi bhi haal mein maula se lau lagaaye ja
Khudrat e zuljalaal mein kya nahi gidgidaaye ja
Baithega chain se agar kaam ke kya rahenge par
Go na nikal sakey magar pinjarey mein phadphadaaye ja

Laga reh usi mein jo hai ikhtiyaari
Na pad amre ghair ikhtiyaari ke peechey
Ibadat kiye ja maza go na aaye
Naa aadhi ko bhi chhod saari ke peechey

Kaamyaabi to kaam se hogi
Na ke husne-kalaam se hogi
Fikr aur ehtemaam se hogi
Zikr ke iltezaam se hogi

Kholey wo na kholey dar
Uspe ho kyon teri nazar

Na chit karsakey nafs ke pahelwaan ko
To yoon haath paanv bhi dheeley na daaley
Arey is se kushti to hai umr bhar ki

Shaitan o nafs dono hai dushma n tere magar
Dushman wo door ka hai yeh dushman kareeb ka
Is maare aasteen ka kuchla na sar to phir
Mantar ho kaargar na madaaba tabeeb ka

Tujhko jo chalna tareeqa-e-ishq mein dushwaar hai,
Tu hi himmat haaar hai haan tu hi himmat haar hai
Har qadam par tu jo rehro khaa raha hai thhokarein
Lang khud tujhmey hai warna raasta humwaar hai

Mujhe dost chhod dein sab koi meherbaan na poochey
Mujhe mera rab hai kaafi mujhe kul jahaan na poochey
Shaboroz main hoon majzoob Aur yaad apne rab ki
Mujhe koyi haan na poochey,Mujhe koyi haan na poochey,

Lutf duniya ke hain kaye din ke liye
Kho na jannat ke mazey in ke liye
Yeh kiya aye dil to bas yoon samajh
Tune naadaan gul diye dil ke liye

Kasbe duniya to kar hawas kam rakh
Uspey tu deen ko muqaddam rakh
Deney lagta hai phir duva yeh chiraag
Is tarah iski lau ko maddham rakn

Phir to bas aaraam hi aaraam hai

Marzi e haq par nazar rakh apni behboodi na dekh
Tu akela tere dushman saikdon yeh bhi na dekh
Khudrat e haq par nazar rakh apni kamzori na dekh

The translations of post #52 - Three stanzas at a time...Of course, these are instantly written translations and need huge repair...but, I cant afford time, sigh! Sorry!

Raahbar to bas bataadeta hai raah
Raah chalna rahrou ka kaam hai,
Tujhko rehbar le chaleyga dos par
Yeh tera rahrou khayaalekhaam hai

The guide just shows the path (guide=shaykh here)
It is the duty of the traveller (saalik) to actually traverse it
That the guide will take you to the goal,
Is just a misconception you have, o traveller!

Soch maazi ko na isteqbaal ko,
Thheek rakh tu to bas apne haal ko
Kya huva kya hoga is gham mein na pad
Tu abas karley na is jinjaal ko

Neither think about the past, nor the future,
Try to keep your present correct..
Do not fall into the griefs of what has already happened or what is going to happen
Just think of falling into these complications as futile...

Tu ho kisi bhi haal mein maula se lau lagaaye ja
Khudrat e zuljalaal mein kya nahi gidgidaaye ja
Baithega chain se agar kaam ke kya rahenge par
Go na nikal sakey magar pinjarey mein phadphadaaye ja

In whichever state you are, go on and connect to maula
Everything is there in Allah's divinity, go on begging!
If you sit at peace, then where will be the wings for work
Even if you cannot get out, continue flapping hard in the cage!

The translations of post #52 - Next three stanzas' attempt....

Laga reh usi mein jo hai ikhtiyaari
Na pad amre ghair ikhtiyaari ke peechey
Ibadat kiye ja maza go na aaye
Naa aadhi ko bhi chhod saari ke peechey

Continue doing whats within your volition,
dont bother yourself about things beyond your control,
Continue prayers inspite of not getting enjoyment out of 'em, (here enjoyment is something beyond our zone of control)
Dont leave the halves in pursuit of the fulls....

Kaamyaabi to kaam se hogi
Na ke husne-kalaam se hogi
Fikr aur ehtemaam se hogi
Zikr ke iltezaam se hogi

Success comes through work,
not through the beautiful talk,
Through the worry-of-deen and consistency,
Through disciplining oneself to His remembrance...

Kholey wo na kholey dar
Uspe ho kyon teri nazar
Tu to bas apna kaam kar
Yaani sada lagaayeja

Does He open or not open the door,
Why should you put your eye on that,
You just concentrate on the work,
and that is to keep calling on Him..

The translations of post #52 - 3rd set of three stanzas' attempt....

Na chit karsakey nafs ke pahelwaan ko
To yoon haath paanv bhi dheeley na daaley
Arey is se kushti to hai umr bhar ki
Kabhi who dabaaley kabhi tu dabaaley

If you cannot defeat the pugilist called nafs,
Then do not sit idle as well…
Hey, the fight with nafs is for life,
Sometimes it puts you down, sometimes you put it down...

Shaitan o nafs dono hai dushma n tere magar
Dushman wo door ka hai yeh dushman kareeb ka
Is maare aasteen ka kuchla na sar to phir
Mantar ho kaargar na madaaba tabeeb ka

Both Shaitaan and nafs are your enemies but,
That’s a far-off enemy (shaitaan) and this is an enemy that's close,
If you do not squash the head of this snake,
No tricks not potions would work for you...

Tujhko jo chalna tareeqa-e-ishq mein dushwaar hai,
Tu hi himmat haaar hai haan tu hi himmat haar hai
Har qadam par tu jo rehro khaa raha hai thhokarein*
Lang khud tujhmey hai warna raasta humwaar hai

The difficulty that you face while walking on the path of love,
Its because of your feeble will, yes its because of your feeble will!
On every step, O traveller, the stumbling that happens to you,

Its because of your lameness, the path is pretty smooth….

Translations of post #52...4th set of three stanzas...

Mujhe dost chhod dein sab koi meherbaan na poochey
Mujhe mera rab hai kaafi mujhe kul jahaan na poochey
Shaboroz main hoon majzoob Aur yaad apne rab ki
Mujhe koyi haan na poochey,Mujhe koyi haan na poochey,

I want all friends to leave me and all well-wishers stop asking for me,
My Sustainer is enough for me, let the world not ask for me….
Day and night I am majzoob (absorbed!?) and the remembrance of my Sustainer…
Let nobody ask for me, yeah let nobody ask for me...

Lutf duniya ke hain kaye din ke liye
Kho na jannat ke mazey in ke liye
Yeh kiya aye dil to bas yoon samajh
Tune naadaan gul diye dil ke liye

The pleasures of duniya are for how many days…
Don’t lose the joys of jannah for them…
If you do this, O heart, then do understand…
You have given stupid flowers to win a heart!!!

Kasbe duniya to kar hawas kam rakh
Uspey tu deen ko muqaddam rakh
Deney lagta hai phir duva yeh chiraag
Is tarah iski lau ko maddham rakn

Work and earn the world but put the greed down,
And upon that you put deen as your top priority
Then the lamp will start praying for you, (not sure if I am correct in this line)
That's how you keep its flame at a minimum….

Translations for post #52...5th set of three stanzas...just a thought, it looks beautiful when we address our own nafs with these lines...they work well to talk to nafs (kalaam-e-nafs, as told by respected sufiya) when it starts behaving bad..

Tarke duniya kar na har lazzat ko chhod
Ma'siyat ko tark kar ghaflat ko chhod
Nafso shaitaan laakh dar pe ho magar,
Tu na hargiz zikr aur taa'at ko chhod*

Neither abolish the duniya completely nor abhor every pleasure..
Instead, abolish the transgressions and abhor negligence..
However strongly nafs and shaitaan may be against you…
Do not, for anything, leave dhikr and obedience..

Fikr e duniya tujh ko subh-o-shaam hai
Isse ghaflat hai jo asli kaam hai
Kuch dinon sehley mashakkat deen ki
Phir to bas aaraam hi aaraam hai

The worry for duniya is present in your nights and days,
The negligence of this is the real work…
Tolerate he hardships of deen for a few days..
Its only blissful rest and blissful rest after that….

Look for the deeni benefits and not the highs of duniya,
Put your focus on the wish of the Lord and do not look at the highs of the self,
You are alone and your enemies are many, do not look at that even…
Look at the powers of the Creator and not at your own weakness.

Translations to post # 52...last set of stanzas...

Mahvey ghaflat yeh teri hasti nahi
Dekh jannat is qadar sasti nahi
Rah guzar duniya hai yeh basti nahi
Jaah e aish-o-ishrat-o-masti nahi

Absorbed in negligence, that's not your status!
Look, paradise is not so cheap…
Stay and walk off, this is duniya and not a destination
Not a place for luxuries, pleasures and frenzy

Ho rahi hai umr misley barf kam
Chupkey chupkey rafta rafta dam ba dam
Saas hai ek rahravey mulk-e-adam
Daf'atan ek roz yeh jaayega thham

The life is diminishing like the Ice bock,
Gradually, slowly, silently, with each passing second…
The breath is a traveller to the world of death
One day, suddenly, it will slow out and stop.

Mere zeest ka haal kya poochte ho
Na peeri na …..
Jo kuch sarhatein yaad e dilbar mein guzri*
Wohi hai wohi meri kul zindagaani

(3,4 lines above..)
A few moments that I spent in the remembrance of my Love (Allah ta'ala)
Those moments, only those moments are my actual, complete life

Jo khelon mein tune ladakpan gavaaya
To bad mastiyon mein jawaani gavaayi
Jo ab ghaflaton mein budhaapa gavaaya
To bas yoon samajh zindagaani gavaayi

You have wasted your adolescence in play and frolic,
And wasted your youth in bad pleasures,
If you waste your old-age now in negligence,
Then just understand that you have wasted your life!!!

...Ends here, whatever I had..

Saare hijaab hon bar taraf dekhon tujhi ko har taraf
Parde naye uthayeja jalwe naye dikhaeja

Ek bijli si koondi mere dil pe uske baad kuch khabar nahin hai
Ab jo dekhta hon pehlu main to dil nahin hai jigar nahin hai
Har su hai tera jalwa kahan nahin hai kidhar nahin hai
Tu zarre zarre main jalwagar hai koi deedadar nahin hai

Are yeh kya zulm tu kar raha hai
Marne walon pe mar raha hai

:Salam: brother Saaalik,

JazakAllah, My favourite of Hazrat Khaja sahab RA.
Wa Assalaam.

Yaar rahe yaa Rab tu mera aur meń tera yaar rahuń
Mujh ko faqat tujh se ho muhabbat khalq se meń bezaar rahuń

JazakAllah, one of my favourites too. The whole poem would be awesome.
To add to it, whatever I remember...

Sabhi kuch kiya dil se majboor hookar,
Naye gham mile phicle gham duur hookar.
Kisi haal mein chein pata nahin dil,
Na Maghmoom hookar, Na Masrur hookar,
Na Jeene se Khush hoon, Na Marna rawa hein,
Yeh jeene mein jeena hein majboor hookar.
...

This haal (in the poem) can only of a Majzub. Masha Allah

Someday I will post the whole poem inshAllah, my favorite, from Hazat Khaja Azeezulhasan Majzub Ra...

...
Ye kiske liye jaan dene chala hoon,
Chali aa rahi hai qaza hoor hokar!,
Ajab ek mu'amma sa main bangaya hoon,
na mukhtaar hokar, na majboor hokar!!!...

Translation attempt:
For whom am I walking to lay down my life for?
That death itself approaches like a hoor of paradise,
A strange puzzle that I have become,
Neither deliberately, nor out of desperation...

Zubaan chup rahi gar chey majboor hokar
Raha baal baal apna mansoor hokar

Tasawwur se laa mat tahayyur se laamat
Main baitha hoon apni jagah toor hokar

Badalne lagey karwatein ahle marqad
Zara door hokar zara door hokar

Yeh kiske liye jaan dene chala hoon
Chali aa rahi hai qaza door hokar

Ajab ek muamma sa main bangaya hoon
Na mukhtaar hokar na majboor hokar

Khush aamad daraamad tadharr o tamalluq
Sabhi kuch kiya dil se majboor hokar

Kisi haal mein chain pata nahi dil
Na maghmoom hokar na masroor hokar

Na jeeney se khush hoon na marna rawa hai
Yeh jeene mein jeena hai majboor hokar

Ab itni ri'aayat to aye aasmaan ho
Naye gham milein pichle gham door hokar

Main majzub hoon jazb-e-ulfat salaamat
Bachogey kahan mujhse tum door hokar!!

Aur chamakne laga sar basar noor hokar
Main jal jaaney wala nahi toor hokar

Teri yaad mein khud se bhi door hokar
Main bas rehgaya noor hi noor hokar

Na paas aavo chalo door hokar
Main kuch aur kehdooon na mansoor hokar

Badalne lagey karwatein ahle marqad
Zara door hokar zara door hokar

Yeh kiske liye jaan dene chala hoon
Chali aa rahi hai qaza door hokar

Ajab ek muamma sa main bangaya hoon
Na mukhtaar hokar na majboor hokar

Chala aa raha hai khicha ek zamaana
Kashish is qadar is qadar door hokar

Hadein ishq ki kar rahey hain wo qaayam
Kabhi paas aakar kabhi door hokar

Mujhi mein to mujhi mein to rahtey hain mastoor hokar
Wo dil ka suroor aankh ka noor hokar

Hamesha nazar aaye makhmoor hokar
Yeh zulmat kada aalame noor hokar

Jo ek ilteja ki thi majboor hokar
Na kar apni tazleel maghroor hokar

Chala dil azal se jo makhmoor hokar
Raha taa abad nashey mein choor hokar

Dil asraar e fitrat se ma'moor hokar
Raha mere pehloo mein masroor hokar

Taney yaasmeen par libaas e musaffa
Wo aaye hain noorun alaa noor hokar!!

Ghata hai ke um chali aa rahi hai
Dua kisne ki nashe mein choor hokar

Main kehne mein kahne ho ki tha ke chup kargaye wo
Zubaan rehgayi daar e mansoor hokar

Wo nazron mein mere khubey jaa rahey hain!!
Sarapaa adaa chashme baddoor hokar!!!

Badi mutmain zindagi hai jo guzrey
Na maghmoom hokar na masroor hokar

Koi dillagi hai yeh aishe qirindi
Bahut hosh rakhna bahut hosh rakhna hai makhmoor hokar

Ajab rang laayi hai ab meri masti
Taqaddus ke jaamey mein mastoor hokar

Chhupaaney ko hum to chhupaatey hain donon
Raheyga yeh afsana mash-hoor hokar

Nazar kya karoon ab su-e-jaamo meena
Teri mast aankhon ka makhmoor hokar

Rasaayi tasawwur ki hai laa makaan tak
Rahogey kahan humsey mastoor hokar

Wo qush baqt kuch waqt majzoob hai hum
Ghamon mein bhi rehtey hain masroor hokar

Ehsaan apne aap pe karta chala gaya

Jeeta raha mein ishq-e-Nabi :saw: ke tufail mein
Ek ek adaa-e-husn pe marta chala gaya

Mehboob-e-qaenaat :saw: ki khushiyan ko sochkar
Mein gham ke raston se guzarta chala gaya

Parta raha mein subho masaa Aap :saw: per durood
Zakhm-e-hayat aap hi bharta chala gaya

Danishwaron ko saunp ke farzai guftagu

Sunnat ke aainey pe jo Taib jami nigah
Karta raha singhaar, sanwarta chala gaya

Ishq-e-nabi jo dil mein utarta chala gaya

i am doing ok bro, alhamdulillah. Just that highly impressive, inspiring and beautiful environments (all because of the people around here) can get destructively addictive to weaklings like me, prompting my elders to reprimand me to concentrate on more important responsibilities and curtail, postpone my sojourns here until they are off me, at the least.

jazaakAllahu khaira for the concern. May Allah swt bless you with loads of His love. Kindly pray for me!!!

Ashaar worth 1 lakh
Khaja majzoob(RH) :
HAR TAMANNA DIL SE RUKSAT HOGAYI
AB TOH AAJA AB TOH KHALWAT HOGAYEE
Every desire has left my heart
Come in now, its solitude

We say I have this desire to see this car in front of my house. (I have heard this!)
Or this desire to see Paris.
Or attain that position.

Then we also say, "O what is so wrong with little bit of desire?"
How innocent we behave.

We also forget the examples and admonitions that we see.
How people debase themselves because of these little desires.

Man sometimes becomes completely subservient to his desires.
Even in the milder form these desires are not so harmless.
These anyway take over your life.
That is why Allah (SWT) is angry with this disposition of ours.
Desires are abstract things and hence we do not think of them as idols.
But idols these are.

Noble Qur'an 45:23
Yusuf Ali: Then seest thou such a one as takes as his god his own vain desire? Allah has, knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart (and understanding), and put a cover on his sight. Who, then, will guide him after Allah (has withdrawn Guidance)? Will ye not then receive admonition?

ISHQ E ILAAHI
Ye ishq nahin asaan itna samajh lijiye
Ek aag ka dariya hai aur doob kar jaan hai

Love of Allah (SWT)

Ye ishq nahin asaan itna samajh lije
Ik aag ka dariya hai aur doob ke jana hai

Easy is not this love, get this one right
It is to cross a river of fire, drowning

I doubt that it is about love of Allah (SWT). It is all about carnal love.
There was a time when Urdu poets started using spiritual terminology to to pep up their poetry. Now Love of Allah (SWT) is strongest feeling, though it might be underdeveloped as it is in most of us, and hence it it has all that power associated with it. Because of this we do get an impression of great poetry even when a person is talking about rather worldly things. Here is another example:

Ibadaton ki tarah mein ye kaam karta hoon
Mera usool hai mein pehle salaam karta hoon

I indulge in it just as an act of worship
It is my rule that I say Salaaam fist

Read this in a seerah book and thought it was spectacular:

'Arif Rumi Rahimahullahu Ta'ala says:

"The soul is nothing but Nur (luminescence) whilst the physical body is composed of colors and smells. Abandon the colors and smells and talk about the soul only.

Colors undergo drastic transformation but the soul remains purified; it remains pure of varying hues and pure of turning to dust.

Everything in this world - with all its perspectives and directions - is a creation of Allah Ta'ala but regard the realm of 'Amr and Sifat (divine commandments and attributes) as without any direction.

O man! If you regard the realm of 'Amr as directionless then surely the 'Amir (the commander i.e. Allah Ta'ala) will be moreso directionless.

My soul, like the divine attributes is mysteriously concealed. Whatever example I offer to illustrate this is inconsequential."

Assalamu alaikum. Sorry brother, my english is not perfect. So inshAllah i ll not post anything that contents language other than english.
May Allah (SWT) reward you my dear for taking my words in the spirit in which these were uttered.

Now refraining from posting Urdu wisdom on SF also does not serve the purpose. The objective is the opposite - to make the treasure available in Urdu to the wider audience. As Syed Qutb Shaheed asserts in The Milestones that we do not much to offer the west by way of worldly prosperity but we do have something much more precious than that and that is Islam.

And then your English is not bad at all. You know enough and places like SF are ideal to polish English by practice. Please make use of that.

I;ll give you personal example - during my graduation I wrote a popular level science article for our college magazine. Soon after the print was available I was horrified to discover absolutely horrendous English usage on my part. Even now I am mostly embarrassed with my language. But what about the audience? Well that is a different matter. The best complement was paid by a class mate during PG about above mentioned article. He said that it did not look like as if you had written that! The hint was that I had flicked the article from some where - the usual practice about the articles in college magazines.

The moral is that go ahead and do your bit - you do not know how badly it is needed. We usually under estimate the worth of our own efforts.

#Let us go and see the drama of Jigar
heard, that KAFIR became muslim.#

Here jigar sahab telling us that life without fear of Allah(SWT),sunnah, and without salaat, is similar to life of kufr.
And also from one of hadees we know that the only thing that differentiate us from kufr is salat.

Don't know who composed this one

وه گل گل نہیں جس میں خوشبوں نہیں
وه دل دل نہیں جس میں تو نہیں
That flower is no flower devoid of fragrance
That heart is no heart devoid of you

Jo Mein Sar Basajda Huwa Kabhi To Zameen Se Ane Lagi Sada
Tera Dil To Hai Sanam Ashna, Tujhe Kya Mile Ga Namaz Mein

Even as I laid down my head in prostration a cry arose from the ground:
Your heart is in materialism, no rewards for your prayers are.

لوگ کہتے ہیں بدلتا ہے زمانہ سب کو
People say time changes everything

مرد وہ ہیں جو زمانے کو بدل دیتے ہیں
Men are those who change the times

[The Path]

Yeh bhi kya manzar hai
Badhtein hai na hat'te hain qadam
Tak raha hoo door se manzil ko mai
Manzil mujhe

The destination stares me at my face – yet I estimate will
ever I reach?

Per a gurdon ne kaha SUN k kahin hai koi
Bolay Siyarai sir e arsh e bareen hai koi

Someone is there, spoke the heaven's warder old,
the planets said, From above proceeds this voice so bold.

Chand kehta ta nahi ahl e zameen hai koi
Kehkashan kehti ti posheeda yaheen hai koi

No, no, the moon said, its someone on the earth below,
Punched in the milky way, The voice is hereabouts, I trow.

Thi Frishton ko b hairat k yeh awaz hai kia
Arsh walon pe b khulta nahi ye raaz hai kia

Even the angles wondered who raised this cry,
All the celestial denizens looked about surprised.

Taa sir e arsh b insan tag o taz hai kia
aa gai khak ki chutki ko b perwaz hai kia

Does man possess the might to scale imperial heights?
Has this mere pinch of dust learnt the knack to fly?
