Qari Hanif Shahid Rampuri, the world-renowned naatkhaan was shot in Pakistan earlier this morning.
May Allah forgive him, elevate his status, accept him among the martyrs, and grant his family patience. Amin.

Qari Sahab (RA) had such a beautiful voice. This is such a sad news. Listening to him mostly brought tears to the audience.

Qari Hanif will be deeply missed, we must pray for him & the loved one's left behind. I was told that Qari Saab was dropping his beloved daughter to school in Gujranwala and on his way home he was attacked & shot six times.

When he was here last Ramadhan we visited the graveyard in Preston & a local brother pointed out a grave of a Shaheed 'martyr' in which Qari Saab made dua that the almighty give us all martyrdom. Qari Saab's dua was granted as he too will raise amongst the martyrs ameen.

I remember once uncle jee was travelling with us to another town and he recited nazams and naats to us all along the way upon our request and we played various games, Alhamdulilah was soo much fun. Such a lovely soul and how lucky that Allah chose him to become shaheed.

May Allah grant him Jannah Al-Firdaus and make his grave a good reesting place. Ameen!

Qari saab was due to arrive tomorrow at London LHR at 3.05pm and returning on 9th Jan. I spoke to him last night as i was due to pick him up and spend the time together. It's been devastating for us all, i can't believe how many peoples hearts he touched. We must try and fulfill his dream of building a Hospital for the poor and needy in his village. The hospital was due to be completed in April 2011.

@ArtisticVeil i truly feel your pain, he was a perfect travel companion. I only got to know him last Ramadan and spent his last few days here with him. I was looking forward to his visit and feel so empty now as preparations for his visit has been the only thing on my mind.

I spoke to one of his family members earlier this morning however i was unable to talk once the horrific news had been confirmed. Qari saab words will remain in our hearts and minds forever and in-turn keep him and his family in our dua's.

His family had been attacked before and he lost his daughter to a fatal shooting at his home. May Allah destroy these heartless attackers and bring peace to Qari Saab's family.

What I heard is that few years back a bungled robbery in he's house resulted in the death of he's daughter and he filed a case against them and they were prosecuted and jailed and because of that they murdered him sort of revenge attack.
Allah knows best if this true or not maybe someone in pakistan may know the full story.

Qari Sahib was not a shaykhul hadith or head of a girls madrasa. He was a renowned naatkhaan (Urdu term for nasheed artist) who would come to the UK regularly and read poetry in praise of Allah, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the Sahaba (radhiallahu anhum). Anyone who has heard him will tell you that he was truly inspiring....
