گلی میں اب نہیں باقی وہ ڈھیر کُوڑے کا
ہوئی ہے ختم یہاں سے جو اٹھ رہی تھی سڑانڈ
مگر یہ فال بھی نکلی بیاض حافظ سے
’چُناں نماند چُنیں نیز ہم نخواہد ماند‘

چنان نماند و چنين نيز هم نخواهد ماند؛ جیسے وہ صورت نہیں رہی یہ بھی نہیں رہے گی

Fi zama wafa nahin milti
Aap jaane kahan se le

Loyalty is absent from this world

Hum ko Jannat se jab nikala gaya
Chand tare wahin pe de aaye

When we were turned out of the heavens
We dropped the stars and the moon there itself

Is se pehle ke woh isharah karte
Uth ke mehfil se hum chale aye

Lest there be an indication to the exit
Thought it better to reach the door ourself
