They have also made exception of the tabl, a long drum, on condition that it be of the same width in the middle as both ends. The kuba, though, which is a drum narrow in the middle, is prohibited according to the relied upon position in our school...
And Allah alone gives success.

We lean towards their permissibility.

Does anyone know if the Middle Eastern Darbuka is considered like a Kuba? Jazakum Allahu khayran!

probably not halal to play, since this is what people get aroused at in the Middle East. The "Darbuka" in the Middle East does have a sexual intonation.
