Those of you who r Alim/alima students will most probably know who he is...coz the qasasunnabiyyeen we pray in our second year is written by him...any way
Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi was born in thr year 1914 at rai bareli (india) he wasnt a barelwi though...He was the rector of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama,Lucknow India, and the president of the academy of Islamic Research n publications (india) n a member of Muslim World League. He was a scholar of international repute whose works have been translated into several languages of the world.
In January 1980,Shaykh Abul Hasan was told that he had won the Faisal Award. This is an award which is given to someone who has don much for Islam. Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali sent his representative2Riyadh2recieve the award. U know what the faisal award is: To it is attached a gr8 value in the islamic world as is igenerally given to the Nobel Prize. The Faisal Award is a cash sum of SR 200,000/ -,Gold Medal and a merit certificate. But shaykh Abul Hasan did not keep the prize4himself. He gave it away to several organisations, which r working4Islam. He declared that a sum of SR 100,000/ - be given to the Afghan refugees, SR 50,000/- TO THE ORGANISATION OF THE MEMORISATION FOR THE HOLY QURAN STARTED BY YUSUF, AND SR 50,000/- TO Madressa sawlatiyyah at Makkah......
My Father some times tells us stories about the time he was with shaykh...When he became famous many people gave him gifts and money e.t.c..but he continued to live a simple life even though he had so much....anybody seeing him would think he is a poor man...He gave such khidmah to 4 islam...

Rai-Beraili is a different place from the beraili which was the hometown of Ahmad Raza Khan sahib Berailvi. Rai-Beraili is the hometown of Hadhrat Sayyid Ahmad Shaheed Rahimahullahu Ta'ala.

assalamu alaikum wr wb

jazakuAllahkhairun.

hopefully there can be more ppl like that that despite they are given riches of this world they dont treat it as if it was...and realize that this life is only temporary, a test...whereas the real world the everlasting one is waiting...
but no amount of money can help you to get there... only the amount spent in remembrance of Allah swt.
