I am not too sure if this question falls under this section.

I heard an arguement today and I wanted to know what stand does shariah take

A brother says that working sisters and daughters of the house should contribute to the house for financial issues, even if the father or man of the house works and is financially stable..

Other brother says "Shariah doesnot say that working sisters and daughters should contribute to the financel issues of the house, its the job of the man. Infact, shariah prohibits it whether or not if the house is financially stable"

I tried my best to make the best sense of it..

JazakAllah khair

Allah (SWT) has commanded men to take care of the household and provide financially.

[4:34] Men are caretakers of women, since Allah has made some of them excel the others, and because of the wealth they have spent. So, the righteous women are obedient, (and) guard (the property and honor of their husbands) in (their) absence with the protection given by Allah. As for women of whom you fear rebellion, convince them, and leave them apart in beds, and beat them. Then, if they obey you, do not seek a way against them. Surely, Allah is the Highest, the Greatest.

I am pretty sure a woman's earnings is hers only and it is her own will and freedom to do with her wages as she wishes.

So if she wishes to contribute then it is her own choice.

What to do if the man refuses to provide?

Don't do anything. Sit at home until everyone starts to faint due to hunger. Then the man will get up and do something.

Assalamu Alaikum, You are right Moonlight in what you say, I would just like to add here that Man is supposed to provide for the house and the woman is supposed to take care of the affairs at home.

Why is she doing something that is not reqired of her that is going and earning??? It is a different issue if she is at home and earning and is not neglecting her real duties as a wife that is taking care of her home and children.
