Hazrat Maulana Syed Shah Waris Hassan sahab :rahma:
1866 – 1936

He was the son of Shah Imtiyaz Hassan bin Shah Muhammed Hassan. A Hussaini Syed.
He hailed from Kota Jehanabad Zila Fatehpur, a town founded by his own ancestors.
He was born in 1866 A.D / 1282 A.H. he did khatm of Qur’an at the age of 7 and was very observant in prayer and fasting from this very age.

After the demise of his father, he came under the care of his maternal uncle and continued his education.

In 1310 A.H, He got admission in Darul Uloom Deoband and received lessons in Hadees from Shaikh ul Hind Maulana Mahmood Hassan sahab(rah) and other teachers, graduating with a sanad.
He then presented himself in the service of Hazrat Maulana Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi sahab (rah) and took dars e hadees, as well as getting bayat in his hands, passing through and completing the manazil of sulook.

He then set out for Hijaz where he gained the nobility to perform Haj and attached himself in the service of Hazrat Haji Imdadullah Muhajir Makki sahab (rah) continuing the silsila of islah e nafs.
Hazrat Haji Sahab (rah) also granted him Ijaza of bayt.

For a while he was a Mudarris at Banaras and Muzaffarpur engaging in service of deen.
He then resigned from employment to migrate to lucknow and engrossed himself in preaching and propagation.
The English educated society derived a lot of benefit from him. Those who gained from him were Judges, Lawyers , beurocrats and the rich elite class.

He passed away on 16 Jamadul ula; 1355 A.H / July ; 1936 and was buried near Jamia masjid Tela Shah Peer Muhammed, Lucknow.

Allama Hakeem Abdul Hasani writes “ he was an Alim ba' amal and amongst the pious men of Allah :taala: “

Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Ambethwi writes of him “ Haji Waris Hassan sahab was also amongst the outstanding khulafa of Hazrat Maulana Rasheeb Ahmed Gangohi sahab (rah) who was on the ways of Mashaikh and wore the attire of sufiya “.

Hazrat Maulana Qari Muhammed Tayyab sahab (rah) writes “ he was a famous buzurg of the silsila. A Khalifa Majaaz of Hazrat Gangohi (rah). Graduated at Darul Uloom. The English speaking class, especially high ranking government officers gained very much from him. In the beginning of his career, there were reports of some karamat from him ”. This is very interesting so mashallah it is confirmed that he was a khalifah of maulana gangohi. The reason why I asked the question is that his khalifah syed zauqi shah and thereafter the people of that line did not follow the way of hazrat maulana rasheed ahmed gangohi rh. Does anyone know what happened in this scenario. It is very unusual for someone from the line of maulana rasheed ahmed gangohi rh to listen to qawwali, celebrate urs and milaad and the many other very strange things which started in that line.

Actually I remember reading somewhere maybe in a book about divine love by syed zauqi shah (has many problematic statements) that shaykh ul hind before he passed away he called syed waris hassan rh and they spent some days together in khalwat and had some private discussion. Apparently his followers state that he was given spirtual command over india. ALLAH knows best

These warsis are different.. pure deviants.. they wear saffron clothes / shawl .. i know a senior who was initially a mureed of Hazrat Maulana Maseehullah khan sahab :rahma: but somehow got trapped by these guys and went wayward.. shall check up some additional info on them insha Allah..

Hazrat Qari Ibrahim (RAH) is a very extraordinary khalifa who got khilafat in less than one month.
He was instrcucted in Makkah to go to Gangoh .He is considered as a Qutub. He is called Uzanir Pir Saheb in Bangladesh. Uzani is located in Comilla district in the South-eastern part of Bangladesh. The madrasah of Uzani is managed by his grandson , as far as I know.

His line has spread far and wide in Bangladesh. One of his khulafa is called Chor Monair Pir Shaheb who has a great number of followers in Bangladesh.

They are both different people. syed waris hassan and haji waris ali shah. Also what dr76 says is very true. What qari muhammad tayyeb saab says there can be no doubt. What seeker has mentioned is very true about qari ibrahim db. A bengali brother always tells me many stories about him. Dr76 saab is the khulafah list in the order they were given khilafat? Also a very interesting point is that many of the khulafah are bengali. Does anybody have information about the other lines of the silsila and what outlook they took. See we all know the famous lines of the gangohi silsila which run through shaykh ul hind, maulana madni, maulana khalil ahmed (most famously by his khalifah shaykh ul hadeeth maulana zakariya rh) but how about the other lines? Anyone has any idea or has heard of any present day mashaikh who are from the line of any other khulafah.

With regards to a_muslim's question shakh ul hind his most famous khalifah that I know of was shaykh ul islam maualana madni rh and from there the silsila spread far and wide but you see I have always been interested by the other branches so I would like to know how many khulafah hazrat shaykh ul hind had apart from shaykh ul islam rh and are there any people alive who are from the other chains or has it virtually died out? I think someone like dr76 should start a thread on this i.e. gathering all the chains of the deobandi scholars whose silsila is active apart from the famous lines of say hazrat madni, shaykh ul hadeeth, maulana thanvi etc....

Good question pir London sb,Firstly,molana Madani is not khilafat from shaikh ul hand,but he is more closest than many khalifa.Shaikh ul hind lefted very little khalifa ,silsilsa goes and goes from Haji Zargham ud din ra,some man taked my books on shaikh ul hind or i must telled you other khalifa,which is very little.
You will becomed naraz if i telled you,things starts from abover than Zauqi shah,i am not closer to books so not reference gave.if i wronged i will opologized.
Hazrat Deen Puri has sirf 2 khaifa,Ml Ahmad Ali Lahori and Ml Madani.

Maualana Yahya sahab Kandhelwi dam'fadhlah even though remaining his special khadim , I could not ascertain his being a Majaaz of Hazrat.. and that’s the reason I haven’t included his name in the list. But definitely he was granted khilafat last year from Hazrat Maulana Khaleel Ahmed Saharanpuri sahab. And to mention those thousands of beneficiaries is beyond my capacity. Barakallah fi a'mal'uhum wa ah'waluhum. "

How did you get that copy ? I went to one shop near Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka. The shop keeper told me that he had sold the last copy of that biography !!
That book is very rare. It would be nice if you kindly scan and upload that book here .
