Hifz community ... (Please Read) Thx!

I am an American convert to Islam and I have decided to start memorizing the quran. I have one huge problem, I am easily distracted (maybe ADD?). I think it would be easier for me as well as other people if there was a set goal that we all shared together in our quest to memroize the quran. We should start a thread exclusively for memorizing the quran. We could develop a simple system that everybody can participate in. A quick example of a system:

Surah Al-Baqarah

1. Start at the beginning of the month.

2. First week memorize one page (ex. page 1)

3. Second week memorize one page (ex. page 2) [Now you have memorized two pages]

4. Third week memorize one page (ex. page 3) [Now you have memorized three pages

5. Last week of month review three pages ... So on and so forth

I just thought of this now, let me know if anybody wants to participate. We could make it even better by adding a recording of your reading (w/tajweed) at the end of each week for others to listen to, critique, and point out any mistakes. Woman and men can participate. Of course our brothers would have to respect our sister and not listen to their recording if she so chooses to upload it (or she can just send it directly to another sister).

A small chunk of advice

13. The three chunks. Start from the back. Shorter surahs will bring you a big boost. You should divide the memorization of the Qur’an in three parts:

a) Juz 28, 29, 30 or just Juz 29, 30

b) Surah Al-Kahf till Juz 28

c) Surah Al-Baqara to Surah Al-Kahf

Also, one needs a skillful teacher to correct his/hers mistakes, correcting mistakes cannot be done by anyone.
