As salaamu alaykum.

How different are the 7 (or 10 depending on how you look at it) recitals of the Quran?

I have found some info regarding this issue and the standard response is, usually, that the differences are very minor. If this is the case, then are they minor enough where it would be relatively easy for one to memorize all 7 (or 10) recitals?

Or perhaps another way to answer my question would be to tell me, if anyone is privy to this info, about as to how many ayats of the Quran are all recited in exactly the same manner in all 7 (or 10) of the orthodox recitals?

If anyone knows the answers to any of the above questions, please provide them.

Jazakallahu khair in advance.

Wa'salaam.

there is a difference between the 7 ahruf and the (i dunno what number) styles of reciting though i think.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

This matter is much more complex than what i thought it was. There is a book by Mufti Taqi Uthmani, "An Approach to the Quranic Sciences". In one of the chapters it has an introduction on the 7 letters and the 7 recitals. The text itself, even though made for a laymen, is unbeleivably scholarly. That book is so deep and i ussually get upset because the book is not that popular. It is certinaly the most scholarly book that i have. This chapter is just an introduction to this topic, but it is actaully about 30 pages or so i think. Hence, very complex issue. If i have time inshAllah i will scan it. These days i am just waiting till school starts, even though i just finished a week and a half ago.
