View Full Version : Mistake in salah?

I made a mistake today in Isha salah by standing up after the second rakah instead of staying seated for the first qaidah. I realized my mistake only when I had already stood up, so I decided to continue and made my first qaidah at the end of my third rakah.

After that I was confused whether I should finish with my fourth rakah, or perform 2 rakah since thats how many rakah's are performed after the first qaidah. I ended up performing 2 rakah's to make a total of 5 rakahs. I did sajdah sahw at the end.

Was my salah valid?
Should I have only performed 1 rakah after my first sitting to keep the total at 4 rakahs?

Unfortunately, the salah would not be valid as you did not perform the (fardh) qa'dah akhirah in the fourth rak'at.

If you miss the first sitting in a (four rak'at) salah and have already stood up, then you should complete the rak'ats of the salah as if you had performed it and then make sajdah sahw for missing the wajib sitting, in the last qa'dah. The third rak'ah should be performed as usual, without sitting.

You should repeat the salah.
