As-salaum'alaykum,

al fajr:7

"Of the (city of) Iram With lofty pillars"

I know that Iram must have existed at one time but does anyone know where it was? I have no knowledge or information of it outside of the Qur'an.
Has it yet to be un-earthed by archologists?

wassalam,

Assalaamu Alaikum

I have read somewhere that Iram was the "Paradise" created by Shaddad (A King) who wanted to prove that he could make a paradise. He had never seen his Paradise, as The Angel of Death was commanded to take his soul when he was just about to enter his Paradise...

Iram (according to Tafseer Uthmaani) was also the name of a man from The Aad.

Wassalaamu Alaikum

As-salamu'alaykum,

So Ubar is Iram. jazakallah for the link.

Insha'allah, other things will be found. Like the Ark of Noah(sallahu alayhe wassalam).

We see people often trying to create paradice for themselves. Or a small slice of it's likeness. An artifical and temporary jennah?
Anyone know what Im getting at?
People build gardens with small streams all the time. Or a large shopping mall always has trees, a climet that stays comfortable and fountians or little man-made waterfalls. We think that modern scince will one day give us everlasting life.

I live in the United States and I doubt the people who build these things have ever read the Qur'an.

So where does the idea for these things come from? Could Allah(subhana wa tallah) have built these disires into human kind for our own good? But the non-believer doesent realize it. He thinks that these gardens are his own idea? LOL.

Is there anything in the Qur'an about this?

wassalam,

Nabil.............
