Assalamu alaykum
After a husband and wife have intercourse is it compulsory that they get up and have a ghusl immediately or can they sleep in the state of impurity and get up earlier to have a ghusl before fajr?
Jazakallah
Also what is the state of the person if he sleeps and passes away and doesnt have the chance to do the ghusl, passes awya before fajr. Also and if impurity gets on the matteress, how does one make it pure again? just wash the affected area thrice? as you cant squeeze it out?

Ghusl is not necessary immediately, though obviously it is better to do so. Rasoolullah :saw: would sleep in the state of janabah but would perform wudhu before doing so (this isn't necessary, either, but it is sunnah). Dying in a state of janabah is not a big issue, either. Janabah is an impure state, just how haidh is an impure state for women.

jazakallah for that, so even if the brother passes awya without having chance to do the ghusl, it is fine? i just thought it wouldnt be a good death as u'll be impure. but then again, they'll be giving you a ghusl before they bury you. Anyone know the answer regarding a bit of impurity on the mattress?
Jazakallah

Mufti AK Hussain replied 3-4 weeks on Cii that its:
1. Not Sunnah to wash/peform Ghusl straight after intercourse; although from hygienic and personal point of view if a person wants to wash himself/herself thats fine
2. Also not Mubah/Fardh/Wajib
And a person can go to sleep straightaway should they wish to do so and there is no problem with that.

As mentioned before, it is better to do ghusl than not to, especially since it is relatively easy in today's times to do so, whereas it would be a long and arduous task just to prepare the water for ghusl during the time of Rasoolullah :saw:. It would fulfill the sunnah of cleanliness as we should try our best to be clean and pure at all times.
As for impurity on the mattress, you can just wipe it with soapy water if you wish, but there is no need to wash three times, etc. if cleaning it once cleans it of all noticeable najasah (i.e. there is no bad odour and the area is visibly clean).

It is wajib to do ghusl before the prayer time that you haven't prayed yet exits. E.g it is wajib to to perform ghusl before sunrise if someone slept in a state of janaba.

after intercourse you need to clean all of yourself with WATER ONLY no shampoo etc and this should be done before the next day is out or before you are going to pray or which ever comes sooner

Does Ghusl only involve the genital area?
Or does it mean a complete body washing; like a bath or a shower?

Why only water, and not shampoo or soap?
The whole point of ghusl is to be pure and clean, its encouraged that you use soap.

You can delay your ghusl until before the next salah. Give yourself enough time to make proper ghusl. Although it is always better to do ghusl right away. The least you should do is wash your hands and privates. If you intend to delay then the best you should do is make wudhu atleast.
You can use shampoo and soap and all fancy things to make yourself smell clean and better.

I do not know why it is that you cannot use shampoo its been ages since I studied this stuff but you can use it after you have cleaned yourself with WATER FIRST you must clean yourself with WATER FIRST without anything else after that you can use it when you do wudu do you use shampoo to do it ???
ok i went and found my old school note books the reason for why water is used only first is because it is a cleansing ritual and not a cleaning ritual
"cleansing ritual and not a cleaning ritual"
Whats the difference???
You can use water with soap/shampoo

I think the brother who mentioned "only water no soap/shampoo" said so with the intention that soap/shampoo is not required, that it is OK to thoroughly wash with water only in order to become pure. I don't think he meant to say that it is prohibited to use soap/shampoo during ghusl after intercourse.
That's my perception of it anyway.

The whole article above covers many aspects of Tahara (Purity) but the setion entitled "How to do Ghusl?" may be of particular importance to you.
