Assalaamu 'alaykum warahmatullaah.
Respected Ulama of SF and other knowledgeable brothers & sisters,
I'm not sure if this is the right place but I have come across the following quote in "Hadiyaa-e-khawaateen" regarding the Mudhillah who has to perform ghusl for each salaah:
Important clarification: Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hambal (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) has opted for some ease with regard to a Mustahaadhah-e-Dhaalah. Therefore, if a woman is ill such that it is difficult for her to perform Ghusl for each Salaat, then there will be some leeway for her to practice on the rulings of Imaam Ahmad (rahmatullahi alaih). Therefore, one should consult with an experienced Mufti in this regard.
How do i go about looking for this information? Is there any site where I can look? I would be grateful for it and it would create ease for someone in this situation. Jazaakumullaahu khayraa. Wassalaam.

inshallah next year once I'll finish my undergrad degree then I have to decide on a madrassa/institution I was thinking of S.A. but then i found out about Darul Qasim in Chicago which looks very promising. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdFQp9ffDWc&feature=youtu.be
What do you do right now, are you a studying Islamic studies full-time? are you working? are you a uni/college student?

Wa 'alaykum al-salam,
Have you researched about other Dar al-'Ulooms besides the one in SA?
I was intending to join Miftaah al-Khayr in South Africa last year but did not join due to personal reasons [not related with the Dar al-'Uloom].
No, I am not studying the deen full-time but I know a Mufti graduated from Nadwat al-'Ulama' so I was wondering to learn something under him. Although in Fiqh, I prefer learning under Shaykh Isma'il Moosa after attending his duroos.
I am planning to work for the summer. What about you?
@Ummitaalib - I've forwarded the question to a scholar. When I get it, I'll post it, insha'Allah.

I'm doing research this summer at my university (and getting paid for it, YAY!) inshallah it will help me with my honors thesis next year, I'm studying the effects of a depression medication, called bupropion (wellbutrin, prozac etc.), on synapse formation and transmission...so basically seeing how this drug actually effects communication between brain cells. next year will be the final year of undergrad degree and marks my departure (for the near future at least) from secular studies. then most probably off to SA.
i haven't really looked into many SA madrassas. likely my options would be Numaniyyah (where Mufti Ebrahim Desai is) or Maulana Taha Karan's madrassa (granted his madrassa, is a shafi institute. I'm not sure about camperdown (Inamiyyah) at the moment, but that's also an option. I think it would be beneficial for me to avoid the larger madrassas like azaadvile or zakariya, on the advice of my Qari sab.
a local hanafi alim, with whom i keep close ties, has insisted that Maulana Taha Karan's madrassa, his approach and curriculum are better suited for Ulema in north America albeit I wont be able to learn hanafi fiqh there or study sihah sitta, the possibility exists of going elsewhere to study those afterwards.
regardless, i think i will have to contact Mufti Ebrahim Desai saheb and discuss these things with him and then I will get a better idea of which madrassa would work best for me.
I have somwhat of an itnerest in Darul Qasim, which admittedly began last week after I stumbled across a video posted By Mufti Hussain Kamani...perhaps Chicago might also be an option (the cost of living might be a bit high tho). However I will have to contact them and see what their curriculum is actually like, I would prefer to cover the basic books in darse nizami like hedaya, Usool ushashi, Qudoori (whatever else is included) as these are studied by virtually every subcontinent alim and i would feel inadequate if I had not done so.

Wa 'alaykum al-salam,
Since you're doing the research, I'll pose a question to you: Doesn't some anti-depressant medications cause the libido to decrease?
Anywho, if you're going to join Shaykh Taha Karaan's then you'll become a Shafi'i? Keep this as one option.
I'd suggest you get in contact with Mufti Isma'il Moosa. I was recommended by a student [Mufti] of Mufti Ebrahim Desai last year. I shared over 26 detailed messages regarding my preferences, financial ability and more, then he gave some options to the madaaris there. I decided on Miftaah al-Khayr due to the environment there of having less students, thus much more interaction with 'ulama and other issues.
There are about 3 Dar al-'Ulums in Canada now. One is in Cornwall, another in Ajax and one in my locality [my friends are in it]. Ours is not well grounded in terms of place and teachers but the effort will count, insha'Allah.
It wouldn't be a wise choice to contact Mufti Ebrahim; he is very busy.
I haven't looked at their [Darul Qasim's] curriculum though but I am assuming you will be in their facilities [staying there and your daily bread etc]?
Wassalam.

Why not contact Mufti Abu Hajira?

I know Mufti Ebrahim Desai and have spent some time with him quite a few years back, also a friend (who also knows Mufti Desai) recommended that course of action.
I prolly would not become a shafii' but Allah knows best, but i do want to learn shafi fiqh as well mainly to serve the needs community i live in. I once discussed this idea with a teacher from the madrassa where i did hifz and he discouraged it saying one shud not study both hanafi and shafi fiqh, just one....but i'm uncertain as to why that might be.
as for the other query: some antidepressants (many subgroups and types) can cause libido to decrease but I would not recommend youth to try getting their hands on it, but rather rely on fasting and avoiding a lot of meat as a emans of cotnrolling their nafs. primarily because we know very little about antidepressants and their pharmacological mechanism of action. antidepressants are one big pandora's box, which although effective have so many side effects "sexual dysfunction" can often be one of them.

Assalamu 'alaykum,
Well, I do not have much experience with Shaykh Abu Hajira in asking about various Madaaris, but the Shaykh did provide valuable informations. Although, I've also found his advises very helpful as well, I meant that I had much more experience with Shaykh Isma'il Moosa; that's all. I just had more interactions with Shaykh Isma'il Moosa, that's the bottom of it.
Hafiz Gee, I'd recommend you still keep the company of Shaykh Taha Karaan, whether you are studying or not under him.
And I think they do not recommend studying two schools together is because realistically you may need to first master your own school to a certain degree before going on to comparative fiqh.
Wallahu a'lam.
