Salaam
Could someone confirm whether it is permissible to use bonjela whilst fasting. I am sure it is disallowed as it does leave a taste in the mouth but would be grateful if someone could clarify the situation.

:salam:
If it is swallowed, it won't not be allowed. If it isn't swallowed but gives taste, then it would be undesirable unless it's used due to a valid (i.e. medical, etc.) necessity.
Allah knows best.

As far as I'm aware, bonjela contains ethyl alcohol? For toothache its best to just put one drop of clove oil onto the affected area just before sehri ends, or try the dentyl ph mouthwash with clove oil which is alcohol free and very good for toothache as well as sore throats. As salamu alaikum

Wasn't aware of this-will have to check tomorrow Inshallah. I use it for pain relief against ulcers. I got by without using it for a few days albeit with difficulty, particularly when my job involves constant talking.
