I really do not like dates. They're often dry, extremley chewy and upset my stomach. But it is highly recommended to eat it. I used to be forced to eat it when I was younger but i've refused it for a few years now.
What should I do?

Perhaps you're eating the wrong kind of dates  Dates are SO not dry.
I used to hate olives with a vengeance. In fact I would run arms a-flailing at the sight of them (perhaps a slight exaggeration :p)
Anywho, because they are mentioned in the Qur'an and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned them as a blessed food and source for health benefits (olive oil etc) I would pop an olive in with my meal each day.
My tastebuds became accustomed to the flavour and I began to relish in their aromatic flavour.
I have now accepted the olive as part of my daily diet.
Thank you *re-joins circle*
Salaam aleikoum,
I do think as well that maybe you should try different dates. There are so many available, and different price classes as well. From very dry ones to ones that are almost fluid
And of course, it is not a must to break your fast with dates....

 , you don't like dates? You haven't tried the different types.......hmmm,, how abt dipping your dates in cream( my husband likes it with butter!) and having it? But then, you don't HAVE to open your fast with date, you can drink water as a previous poster mentioned.

There are certain species of dates that are indeed very dry - for example the thuri type. Try a barhi or khadrawi type date for something sweet and succulent. You get dates in all varieties between these two of course.

As Salaam Alaikum,
I would have to agree with what everyone said, try different dates. Because I too didn't like dates then I found some that I didn't like more than others. The ones I felt were ok I'm trying to make myself accostum to them and so I breakfast with them, because I put on myself that even if I didn't like them I would force myself to break fast with at least one, so alhamdulillah when I set out to do that they actually tasted pretty good, Allahu Alim.

I dnt like dates either, but wen i break my fast i have the tinyest littlest bite then wash it down with water to get rid of the taste, and inshallah Allah swt will reward me for it. ive tried loads of dates, loads n loads, different types, theyre all nasty. i just hate the flavour, its too sweet, the best ones are the welllllllll extremly dry ones, theyre called kharuk in my language, but even so i dnt like them. just try n have a teeny tiny bite n have water strate after.

I like this one type of date which is chewy and it is very tasty. I tried this one date that was pretty crunchy, but not really crunchy and then I stopped eating that kind of date until my parents got the one I liked. I like dates. The thing is that I thought dates tasted awful, boy I was wrong. The first Iftar of Ramadhan I tried a date because it was Sunnah and WOW it was Mash'Allah really tasty. SubhanAllah wa Bihamdihi. Allah has given me a type of date which I desire to eat during Iftar. Alhamdulilah.
