My clearing agent offers the option of paying by credit card. However, they add a convenience fee of 2.5% to the total. Presumably this is the fee that the credit card company charges them. Am I allowed to utilize this option of paying by credit card?
Sometimes the invoice will have calculated the 2.5% fee and list a dollar amount and at other times, the invoice will mention that a 2.5% convenience fee will be added if paying by credit card. In either case, the fee will be 2.5% of the amount payable.
If the dollar amount is not listed on the invoice, do I need to insist on another invoice which will list that amount? Usually I get the invoice later in the mail after payment has already been made (because of the narrow time frame after the goods have been cleared). In this case, they let me know my charges via email. So, again do I need to insist that the dollar amount be listed in the email?
Can I also pass on the fee that Paypal deducts from me (which is a percentage of the amount paid to me) to my customers?
