:salam:
sorry for the delayed response sister Ameeratul layl, please forigve us for our shortcomings.
One reason why you might not be able to view profiles is becuase the site has (alhumdulillah) been worked out so that sisters can only view other sisters profiles, and brothers can only view brothers profiles; this saves many a peaople from fitnah as many a a time the profiles will contain a bio/age/location/intrests/and personal website info.
surely none of us need to know this about the opposite gender, anything that might seem important is already located at the top right corner of an individuals post.
i.e-
Joine Date- lets the reader figure out if the poster in questions has gotten the gist of the forum etc.
Gender- helps us realize who we are talking to and how to reply insha'Allah. The general forums are for learning, educating, posting useful material, debating or general questions, all the while maintaining hayaa insha'Allah. [ the indepth debate is closed for Raadhan -as you may have seen in the announcements and the Question Answer thread is as well due to a backlog, insha'Allah they will be back up soon.....] There are gender specific rooms in which sisters can talk freely with sisters and brothers can talk freely with brothers, insha'Allah after 15 posts you can apply for the Sisters Gender Specific room.
"why 15 posts"- becuase wen one applies fro a gender specific room the perosn who a accepts the memebrship can then definately assure that one is a sister or a brother by the gist of their posts insha'Allah. Sure this isnt foolproof, but Alhumdulillah it seems to be working well.
(a sister can also request access to the gender specific rooms if they have a "sensitive" question/issue and would prefer a sister scholar to help them insha'Allah, likewise for brothers w/ brother scholars, also if one of the threads are moved to a sr/br room only, then the user in questions is given access.)
Madhab- lets the reader/poster kno where the previous poster is coming from and why they may give a certain viewpoint of things, can save people from deabting w/o reason, insha'Allah.
Also wen u were registering im sure you noticed that aside from the four schools of thought there were two more options: Not Muslim and Shi'ite [ i think]. If a member is Non Muslim or Shi'ite, this could explain their posts/questions/problems etc and then one can help them with any queries they may have about islam, simply other than saying.."b/c Islam says so," surely that could turn off a person intersted in coverting to Islam or "Sunni Islam." All of us at SF when speaking to someone who isnt Muslim or doesnt agree with Sunni Islam, can help them out bearing in mind that we must be gentle but firm in our replies. We can't let people degrade any aspect of Our Beloved Deen, but generally when queries are made you can decipher how the person may be appraoching Islam [not that using that same appraoch towards them when you talk to them but things such as Slandering abt Rasulullah Sal'Allahualaihiwasalam [:astagh:] or The Ulema etc will not be tolerated.]
Posts- Personally i find this feature helpful to SF staff. For instance if a sister or brother posts something which we feel may be best if moved to their gender specific rooms only we can look at the number of posts by "user X" and move the thread to their gender specific rooms. if the number of posts is above 15 we can either expect them to have accees to their rooms or if not, easily grant it to them.
Now if you can't view sister profiles then there could be a problem, please let us know insha'Allah.
btw in no way was i suggesting your goign around checking only br profiles, no way. but on the gen forum it happens alot, sometiems we dont even realize "user x" is a br or a sr. so please don't take it as if i said that, wasnt my intention at all. forgive me if you thought that.
anyways sister sorry for the essay to your 2 line query. Please forigve us for our shortcomings, and keep us in yours duaas. as it is Ramadhan, many people both members and SF staff are busy, the forum at the moment isnt extremely alive as it is out of Ramadhan, but perhaps thats a good thing, :mash:
Sister i humbly request you to keep coming back to Sunniforum insha'Allah. Sunniforum.com surely isnt hopeless [and i can vouch for this as well as many other members] insha'Allah you will see what a great place it is to learn from and to create bonds Fisabilillah.
may Allah give us all success in all our endeavors in this life and the next inshaAllah. Please keep us in your duaas.

There's no problem - sr Ameeratul_layl has not applied for membership of the sisters group yet, that's all (at that point she will be able to see sisters profiles).
With respect to sensitive questions, one can also ask them in the sensitive questions section of IslamQA (which is still open). Only the thread starter and mods/scholars can see and respond to queries in this section.
