Assalamu Alaikum

Brother salman. I wanted to ask you, which books did you use to learn arabic? I recently purchased the 3 volume set of Madina Islamic University Arabic for english speaking students books. Do you recommend this book for self study for arabic? What books did you use? Also did you do self study or actually took lessons with a scholar?

My Arabic is by no means upto an acceptable standard, expecially when compared to scholars.

I have done the basics of Arabic, including the Matn Al Ajurumiyyah with its Sharh Tuhfa Al Siniyya. I plan to do another, more advanced commentary, on the Ajurumiyyah in the winter. I also did parts of Al Durus Al Nahwiyyah aswell as Kitab Al Assaasi (which deals with vocab and speaking).

I did all of the above with teachers and have really no experience with self-studying.

Im sure we have scholars and brothers here whose arabic is far more advanced and they can give you more beneficial advice. Mine will remain that you study under a scholar. I personally prefer going abroad to Syria, Yemen or Jordan for Arabic studies, but i understand that this is not reasonably possible for many.

Request for Du'as
