  1. Rabt e Qalb bish-shaikh (Link of the heart to one's sheikh)

    .
    The meaning of rabt-e-qalb bish-shaikh is to focus one’s heart towards the shaikh bearing in mind that the mercies of Allah Ta`ala are descending onto the heart of my shaikh by means of which they are transferred to my heart.

    With regards to material assets, a child receives these through the father. Be it money, food, sweets or clothing, the child receives them through his father even though it is Allah Ta`ala who has bestowed the father with these favours.

  2. `Ilm, `amal and Dhikr

    In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

    ""Knowledge" (`ilm) ought to inculcate "action" (`amal), and "action" ought to give rize to "remembrance" (dhikr). For this very reason, knowledge is knowledge; and "action" is "action".

    If "knowledge" does not inculcate "action" then it is sheer darkness; and if "action" does not bring "remembrance" into ones heart

  3. A non-practicing Muslim is also liable to do Tablīgh

    [In the talk “Need for Tablīgh”, Maulāna Ashraf ῾Ali Thānvi rehmatullāhi ῾alayh says]

    …Let us look at an Ayah which has been used to take proof that no one should propagate dīn until he brings that action into his own life.

    لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لَا تَفْعَلُونَ ...

  4. An incident showing the laymen’s belief in tasarruf of Awliyā’


    Once a person from Allāhbād came to Maulāna Ashraf ῾Ali Thānvi r.a. His wife had recently died and he was sure that Maulāna would bring her back to life. For this reason he came from Allāhbād to Maulāna.

    When he requested Maulāna to bring the wife back to life, Maulāna reproached and said “Make Tauba(repent) from Allāh, This is Allāh's work”. Later on the person said to other people that perhaps Maslehatan (for some deeper reasoning) Maulāna did not bring her back to life
