Simple words of pious elders

The son of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (ra) had just finished his studies, came to the khanqah and delivered a great lecture. It covered every aspect of the subject and was quite in depth. He left the mimbar and then came his father. His father (ra) sat on the mimbar and simply said, "this morning I set out a cup of milk for sahoor, but a cat came and drank the milk, the will of Allah swt was dominant, what He willed surely occured." The audiance was in tears, moved - the simple words penetrated every heart and the power of Allah swt was impressed on everyones minds. The talk continued on to more tawhid issues.

Our buzrugh have such nur in their words that their simple statements change the lives of people and are forever impressed on their minds.

    assalaamu'alaikum wr wb, sir I have heard the above story from a friend and he had said it was about Abdul Quddoos Gangohi RA...wasnt it him (ra)?

    Bro saalik, I think this can be found in Malfuzaat Hakeem ul Ummat jild 3 where Hakeem ul Ummat cites it as Mehboob e Subhani Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (ra). I could be wrong about it, I read that one on airplane so my head was in the sky, probably didnt pay attention. Insha'Allah when I get home I will check it out.

    Brother Saalik, jazakallah for reminding me to pick up malfuzaat again. I am such a lazy person and have not touched Malfuzaat Hakeem ul Ummat in a long time. Allah swt reward you for this! I just make dua Allah swt turn my life around, bring my dead heart to life, get me focused on purpose of life from the teachings and blessings of these discourses. Just reading the few discourses while going through the book was really uplifting, eyeopening.

    I've heard from several mashayikh that Malfuzat Hakim al-Ummah should be read daily. Mufti 'Abd ar-Ra'uf sahib Sakharwi db emphasizes it a lot. May Allah give me and us tawfiq.
