As you wish.

Within the etiquette of speaking with elders, especially those among the Awliya who are very sensitive in nature, one of the errors in ones Adab is the statement "As you wish".

While we tend to see it as honoring the Sheikh, thinking that we are relinquishing our wish in his desire; we forget that the reason he asked us for our opinion was not to see our humility rather to hear our opinion.

Hakimul Ummat Hadhrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi rehmatullah alayh once commented that, "Whenever someone says 'As you wish', then I do not feel like talking to him, and it hurts me a lot. People think it is Adab, as though it is my work and I get burdened because of this.

"Instead when we are asked about our opinion by some Sheikh, then etiquette demands that first we express our opinion and say 'I feel such and such, besides that, as you wish' ".
