Someone said, “A man could be showing off to the people of his town while making Tawaaf of the Ka’bah in Makkatul Mukarramah.”

On being asked how this could be possible he replied that while in Tawaaf the person becomes pleased with the thought that his acquaintances back home are saying (in admiration of him) that right now he is in Makkatul Mukarramah probably making many Tawaaf and Sa’ee.

Just how many of our actions fit into this category? The above shows that it is not necessary that “showing off” occurs only when there are people watching. It can be any action at any time, even when there is no one present. May Allah subhaanahu wata’ala purify our intentions!
