Mit Mit Kay Mit Ja - Nightly Vigils

In the poem he mentions about nightly vigils - "Don't think that you have attained wilayah (a special closeness to Allah swt) simply by staying awake (in worship) at night."
Nightly vigils, doing some sort of ibadat (worship) at night, is a trait of ahlullah. This is why he has linked "wilayah" in this line. Ahlullah are known to do some sort of worship at night, either all night or a portion of the night. Some ahlullah even today spend the entire night in worship and sleep only an hour or so after Zuhr and that too with the intention that it is a sunnah. This worship is called tahajjud and there are a lot of merits for it. Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (ra) after his death was seen in a dream of his student and the student asked, "O shaikh what happened to you after your death?" The shaikh replied, "My work in ma'rifath and haqaiq didn't grant me salvation, Allah swt forgave me for the 2 rakaat of nafil salaah I did at night." This means that forgiveness and salvation was based on the 2 rakaats of tahajjud and then the ma'rifath work he did helped to increase his ranks in jannah. His neighbor in the graveyard had an even stranger incident - he was forgiven simply based on his intention. He was too busy with work and family and only did fardh, wajib and sunnah moakkidah ibadah, but he always had intention that if he was relieved of his responsibilities and had free time that he would do the effort like Hazrat Junaid (ra). Allah swt not only forgave him for his intention, but then rewarded him with all of the reward Hazrat Junaid (ra) had accumulated from his efforts. Here we see the Rahma of Allah swt, then the Karam (generosity) of Allah swt and then the siffat of Wahhab (the one who gives just to show he is the giver and to show how much he can give).
He turned the entire treasure chest over and dumped all of His treasures upon His servant - why? Just because, just to show. Beyniyazi, needless of everything and everyone, to show that there is no shortage in the treasure, gives without even a whisper of a doubt of loss.
The mercy of Allah swt is beyond our understanding and when Allah swt gives He gives in a tremendous amount without holding anything back, no one can question Him why He gave, no one can ask for any reason to justify His giving. As they say,
Rahmat e Haq rah bahana mijoyad
"The Mercy of Allah swt looks for excuses to pardon His servants"
An excuse was found and the entire treasure chest was dumped over. Wah Sahab, kya shaan hai!
