Mit Mit Kay Mit Ja - Taqwa and Wilayah

Rate this Entry
The poet writes,

"By staying awake at night in worship dont think that you have attained wilayah."

Many people think that simply by doing excessive nafil worship, by doing excessive and abundant zikr and awrad, by becoming majma ul wazaif, that they will attain wilayah or that it is a sign of wilayah. Awrad have their own place and their own value and respect, but wilayah has a relationship with taqwa. The more taqwa a person adopts the more wilayah he will attain.

Here the poet mentions what is considered to be prime nafil worship - worship during the night - and he says that just because you stay awake all night in worship doesnt mean you have attained wilayah, wilayah is attained by taqwa. So look at how much taqwa you have gained or lost, this will tell you of what degree you are a wali of Allah swt because His awliyah are the muttaqoon. Wilayah isnt attained by simply doing excessive amounts of awrad; wilayah is attained by adopting taqwa, fearing Allah swt and giving up sin.
