Yearning Hearts

Rate this Entry
Listening to nasheeds or verses of poetry (specially in urdu) one can often hear the deep yearning which resides in the depth of the hearts of the pious souls of Allah 'Azza wajall! Such soul stirring words can only rise up from hearts brimming with Ishq-e-Ilaahi...

Shaykh Yunus Patel (Raheemahullah) in "Allah Allah kaysa pyaaraa naam hein"

"Dil meraa hojaaye ek maydaane Hoo
Too hi Too ho, Too hi Too ho, Too hi Too"

O that my heart becomes a land of Hoo (Meaning Allah subhaanahu wata'ala)
(in which) only You remain

Shaykh Zulfiqar Nakhshbandi in "Dil badalde"

"Dil badal de Mawlaa dil badal de,
Ghaflat mein dubaa dil badal de
Khudaayaa fazl farmaa dil badal de"

Change my heart O my Lord
A heart drowing in heedlessness, change my heart O my Lord

Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat reciting these words

"Koi tujse kuch, koi kuch maangtaa hein
Ilaahi mein Tujse talabgaar Teraa"

Some ask You for this and others ask You for that
O my Allah I yearn for You

First line of a Poem

"Yaad mein Teri sab ko bhulaadu, koi na mujhko yaad rahe"

O that I forget everyone in Your rememberance, no one do I remember
