Assalamalaikum warahmatullah - I had the unique blessing of performing Umrah early this year. It was most definitely a once in a life time experience. Both Makkah and Madinah carried a different but unique experience which collectively left on a spiritual high. Although words cannot describe those feelings accurately enough but there was one thing that really left me disillusioned. I happened to make ziyarah of a number of sites that carry a paramount status at the advent and/or during the propagation of our deen. 2 such sites happened to be Cave Hira and the arafat mount where the Prophet SAWS delivered his last sermon. It was really deplorable to see wall markings (graffiti) and garbage all over the place. I am not sure if anyone has recently made ziyarah to these locations and can testify to their current state but I do urge any potential Umrah/ Hajj groups to be mindful of the fact. Infact, if someone plans it early enough they can probably tidy up most of the area. As mentioned earlier I was really disillusioned to see the current state of these sites more-so because we take great pride in expressing our love for the Prophet SAWS.

We were planning to go and now that I am about to register and get the visas, he changed his mind saying he is not ready to do it yet. It is very frustrating. I am a working woman and can pay for my own Hajj, that is not the issue. He can easily pay for his as well. I don't know what to do. I really wanted to go this year. I have other Mahram but they can't afford to go, and I can't afford to pay for both of us. Will this be a sin upon me if I'm not able to go this year because of him? I wanted to have another child next year that is why I wanted to go to Hajj this year, because it would become difficult to go with a small child next year. How should I convince my husband, or what should I do? I have told him that we must do it as soon as possible. It is obligatory for us since we can afford it. Please help me.
