There are different categories of Salafis. There are the Surooris, the Madkhalis/Saudi Salafis, the Albaniyoun, and the Jihadi Salafis. The Surooris, the Albaniyoun, and the Saudi Salafis/Madkhalis are basically the ones who are the extremely arrogant ones, the one with many evil traits, and are murjites in aqeedah. For this reason they bear their full walaa [ love and support] to the likes of the saudi, jordanian, and gulf governments inspite of the fact that those rulers made alliance with the Crusaders against fellow Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, and have made lawful what Allah made forbidden as well as vice versa, thus clearly becoming apostates. You find amongst them mut'assibs, who call the people of madhib as people of heresy and bidah, and some of them may go even so far as making takfeer of all asharis and maturidis. You find amongst them those who reject awilya's karamaat, as well they reject the dead possessing the faculty of hearing and that the Ambiya and the pious being alive in their graves.
On the other hand the sincere and honest salafis as well as the Jihadi Salafis are quite different and they are from Ahlas Sunnah. They follow the same usools of Fiqh as the Madhab of Imam Ahmad, they refer mostly to classical hanbali fiqh works like al mughni, and some of them even regard themselves as full Hanbalis. Aqeeda wise they are Athari, the same school of aqeeda to which the likes of Imam Ahmad and Sufiyan at Thawri belonged to, innocent of any antromorphism, [as they affirm all the attributes of Allah, without asking the "how of it" and at the same time regarding them to be free of any resemblence to the creation] and You'll Find them merciful and passionate to the believers and muslimeen, wishing and working for their prosperity and well being. They have no objection to those making the taqleed of a madhab. The sincere salafis do believe in awilya 's karamaah as it is clearly stated in Ibn Taimiyya [ra]'s wasitiya that belief in the miracles of God's friends in geniuine. The sincere salafis do believe that the dead can hear and that the prophets, the martyrs and the pious are alive in their graves, as this has been clearly stated and mentioned in Ibn Qaem's work ar-Rooh.
The Jihadi Salafis today are standing in the foremost and as the prominent ones in the lands of jihad today. They are the ones who love Allah and the Prophet[saws] above everything else. They are the ones who have truely exhibited one of the most important pillars of tawheed, alwalaa wal baraa. They are the ones who have scarificed their wealth, comfort, and lives for the reward of the hereafter so that the honor of entire muslim ummah would be preserved, their interests and rights get safeguarded, and the enemies of Islam and Muslims would be disgraced. Without doubt they are amongst the Taifatul Mansoora of this age , the vanguards and knights of the ummah, about whom the Prophet[saws] fortold and spoke highly with praise, and who are truely upon the millah of Ibraheem, the way of the prophets and are truely the people who have completed their eman and are of the mutaqoun. There is a promise of Allah in the Quran that those who fight in His path, then he would guide them to the straight path and would bless them with insight and wisdom. Imam Ahmad and Imam Abdullah Ibn mubarak used to say that if you disagree upon something in the matters of the deen then refer to those who are in the frontlines fighting in the way of Allah, for they are upon the guidance from their creator and upon the truth.
And here you can see a picture of a Jihadi Salafi, Abdul Aziz al Muqrin, who was the leader of the Mujahideen in the Arabian Peninsula, and who got martyred a few weeks ago in a shoot out with the apostate saudi forces:
His face is shining with a broad smile after he passed away. Do you know what does this mean? It means that this person is having a delight of something which he sees it while the others like us who are alive dont. A person bearing this delight after passing away clearly indicates that he has won paradise and was upon the straight path while living on this world.
