I am a vegan because God is Most Compassionate and Merciful, and I believe that as a Muslim I should do it to the best of my ability. Meat and dairy products arent necessary to live in todays world, so why add to their suffering? Especially factory farm animals, it is so sad and it is evil what they do, they will be called in account for their actions. Also the same with some "Halal" foods, it's not even Halal. They still break the animals legs, skin them alive, and some even have just a recording of an Imam praying while everything is done by itself. That sure isn't what God would want, and we are doing this to fellow submitters to God! What an evil practice.
Now I am not saying that eating meat is bad, but when you look at,
1) What they go through in order for us to have 5 minutes of pleasure (taste), it is so wrong that they get tortured for their whole lives, just for 5 minutes of eating. Even if it satisfied me to the end of the world or if I was starving I'd never participate in that. How can I say that I submit to God yet I am responsible for harming and oppressing his creation that is more innocent than we are?
2) We do not need to survive on it. There are a lot of alternatives and we can allow the animals to live on this earth with us. Why not choose the less violent and more compassionate path, since that is the way of God?
Back on pork, I read on another forum that you can't cut their throats in the same manner as cows and such, therefore not a quick kill.
I don't think that pigs are dirty as a lot of Muslims say just because thats what they grew up with, they just aren't for us to eat.

Once again impressive things brother, if I could be a vegetarian then I would but as I said, I don't have the willpower. I've seen the way animals are killed and it's horrible to see God's creatures die in such a way, and the way animals are crammed into cages and stuff.
One of the claims the reason man started eating meat, if you believe in science's evolutionary claims (*snickers*) is that eating meat made us more intelligent and allowed our brains to grow- then they also say that earlier homo species had bigger brains than us but that they weren't as intelligent as us, then say that if you have a large brain you're more intelligent. Pretty much there is no proof.
Nowadays humans can survive by getting the nutrients they need out of supplement tablets.
[NB - WARNING below is what I saw about animal slaughter, but I've put it in another colour so you can't read clearly, if you want to read then highlight it with your mouse or something, but it is put quite bluntly]
I've seen a pig have its throat slit before, but it didn't die quickly. It was hung by its legs and when its throat was slit, it started to squeal and fell off of the chains and squirmed around bleeding everywhere until it just went limp, then stopped screaming. Another one was just thrown onto something they use to remove the hairs, whilst it was alive, and they didn't take it off. It also showed animals going to the slaughterhouses- they know that they're going to die. I've seen both halal and non-halal ways of killing things, neither is very pleasant but I have to say, the 600+ volts to the headseems to kill them pretty instantaneously - although that's just what I saw.
I've felt a pig's neck, they have quite thick skin so that's probably why it's harder to kill them quickly. By the way if you read what was up there, it was in America, I think. I might have been mistaken and it might be the United Kingdom though. Either way, it's horrible.
I agree - I don't think pigs are dirty either bro, I think they're kinda cute in an ugly kind of way.
May God forgive us of all of our sins and give those who want to refrain from eating meat the will.

Thank you for the kind words. I decided to copy you there so that I didn't copy the stuff in blue for people that didn't want to see it.
As far as not having the will power, if you believe it is wrong, then your convictions should take care of the temptation. Meditate on God and ask for help. Like it is in Islam, the more knowledge that you have, the more responsible you are. Meaning, the more you know, the more you will be called onto account than someone who doesn't.
I know it is hard brother, especially if you have lived your whole life on it. Not to share my life story or anything, but this was how I changed.
I personally didn't know or even reflect on what went on in the factory farms. Then one day in school, we had a group experiment going on and we were talking about animal experimentation (vivisection). Then my teacher came, I said how it was wrong, then he said, "Do you eat meat?". Then he told me of all the horrible things that go on in there. I took a look for myself and ya, it's real. Then one day, when I was eating beef, I just cryed there because I reflected on it. So I said, "I am not eating beef anymore, but just chicken and pork (before I became Muslim)". Then I ate pork, and the same thing happened. After that, I just changed to being vegan (no animal products at all, even milk) that night.
Dunno, when I reflect on this world, it is just so corrupted. To see how we impact the enviorment by clearing forests and taking away the homes of millions of creatures that depend on it (insects, animals, etc) it is just so sad. What makes us better than someone who robs anothers house, or even takes it from them, and this is on a much grander scale. Looking at animal experimentation, that is just sick. Blowtorching them, implanting electrodes, putting a monkeys body part on a pig, stuff like that. Ugghh, how evil this place is. God will surely call them to account.
Like I said, just meditate on God and ask for help. You definitely do have the will power, believe in yourself. Anytime you are going to purchase an animal product, just look at what it went through so that you could sitdown for 10 minutes and eat them. Good luck brother and may God be with you.
Peace.
Why are you called TheChristian if you're a muslim?

Am I not both? If I follow Christ words, which were the same as Muhammed, Abraham, etc., doesn't that also make me a Muslim? I am allOriginally Posted by Gajji

Hmmm maybe it is because we belong inside God's laws of Nature. We are allowed to eat any type of food that isn't considered unnatural. Notice Nature did not intend animals to eat their own close biological relatives and their own species but other than that there are nothing against eating life.
Remember, we are classified under the Kingdom Animalia and in order to live we must consume life. It is apart of our biology.

Lions eat meat, but go straight for the kill. How do humans do it? They lock them up in pens where they cant move, torture them, oppress them, etc. Totally different.Originally Posted by Silverbackman
As for plants, we need to eat to survive. We do not need meat to survive. Plus, some plants are not killed when you take the food off of them and when you are finished eating a fruit, you can replant them. They do not suffer in terms of pain and such as the animals do, however we should still appreciate them and treat them with kindness.
The human being roams this earth corruptedly. If you can excuse someone from suffering anymore than they should, we should take that avenue. Apparently humans boast of being the highest with knowledge on this earth, yet it sure doesn't help their compassion.Hmmm maybe it is because we belong inside God's laws of Nature. First off, who said he was the most merciful out of mankind? I just had to ask that.Allah has made everything on this Earth for our benifit. Our own Prophet Muhammad who was the most merciful out of mankind would eat meat and drink milk.
As far as the meat and milk, the situation of todays animals and the animals in that time is different. The people of that area do not keep animals penned up as we do today and make them suffer and tortured. Also, meat wasn't even a big part of their diet, it was mainly fruits and vegetables.
Also in Islam, you know that if you can choose the less harmful situation, that you should take that avenue. Why harm the animal if we have other alternatives that are less harmful?
Also thanks for quoting the Quran there, it shows that even Muhammed himself was not perfect.
