Default What do you think of this fiqh book?

    Assalamoalaykum...

I am looking for a book which contains the reliable opinions of all the schools of fiqh.

There is one book called Fiqh as-Sunnah which is available here:

    http://kitaabun.com/shopping3/produc...d1dd2747915692

Does anyone know anything about the reliability of this book?

    Wasalaam.

    Assalam alaikum

Fiqh us sunnah , has quoted views of ' la madhabi " ( people who do not follow any fiqh madhab) .

At many places the author has supressed the Ahle sunnah ruling.Hadith of dead people hearing ( afterbattle of badr) when prophet spoke to them has been presented with views of lamadhabi. Placing green stalks over graves of muslims has been shown as a bad practice.

I think to know any one fiqh first is better.

    wassalam.

It's best if you dont' buy it.

There are a few good Arabic books out there which gathers the opinions of all the 4 Imams. I don't know if you can understand Arabic though.

Even the "13 Imams" (all madhahib ever that were Sunni).

Actually Sidi Shaykh Sahib there is an English book called Bidiyat al-Mujtahid wa Nihayat al-Muqtasid in Arabic in English translated as "The Distinguished Jurists Primer" which is by Ibn Rushd. It has every opinion of everyone ever.

There are 2 other books - al-Qawanin al-Fiqhiyyah by Ibn Juzayy al-Kalbi and al-Mughni by Ibn Qudama (which is the largest of the works on the subject - the bidiyat being no. 2).

They show where there is ijm`a and no ijm`a and every rukhsa and strictness from every opinion from every madhab almost.

So thats the book you want - "The Distinguished Jurists Primer" not "Fiqh al-Sunnah"

    1) What mathab is the author of Bidiyat al-Mujtahid?

    2) Does he cover each school in the same depth?

    3) Does he cover the evidence for each school? If so, what kind of depth?

    4) Would the book make one independent of having to study school-specific texts such Reliance of the Traveller (Shafi) or the Muktasar (Maliki)?

    5) Does the author cover the mathab of Imam Dawud az-Zahiri too?

    Wasalaam.
