    1) Yes, I think Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam is doing a great job in trying to build bridges. His belief’s are completely in accordance with the beliefs of Deoband, but the only difference is that he changes the language used and tries to make differences seem minor. Al-Hamadullaih, many people have really benefited from his answers and have left their differences to one side. I think what really helped Mufti Muhammad was that he went to study in Syria. Knowledge along with experience brings allot of change in a person. He travelled to Syria, Jordon and other places, whilst many young Ulama don’t go any where besides the Madrasa they study in, hence they become narrow minded.

    2) I think Dr qadri is quite lenient in his verdicts. He is more of a modernist (I think) rather than a traditional type of Scholar.

    3) It would have to Be Mufti Taqi Usmani. Other great scholars are: Mufti Rafi Usmani, Shaykh Yusuf Mutala (in Darul Uloom, Bury, UK), Shaykh Anzar Kashmiri (son of Imam Anwar shah kashmiri), Shaykh As’ad Madni (son of Moulana Husein Ahmad Madni), Shaykh Abrarul Haq (India), Shaykh Abdul Hafiz Makki and many many others.

    In among the young scholars, we have people like Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam, Shaykh Riyadhul Haq, Mufti Abdurrahman ibn Yusuf, and others.

    Assalam 'Allaikum,

    1 - Are Mufti Adam AlKawthari's Beleifs 100% in accordance with the beleifs of Deoband?

    Yes, but some Deobandis may think that he is a Barelvi-influenced Deobandi

    I think that the differences have been hyped up due to the long-standing enmity between Deobandis and Barelvis. There is so much emotion involved that reason is seldom given a chance. Barelvis stubbornly refuse to believe that the Deobandis scholars did not use those words in the context that they are shown by Barelvis. Deobandis continue to accuse Barelvis of polytheistic tendencies. Unless we find a common ground there, I can't see an end to this strife. I believe Mufti Adam writings reflect a sincere attempt to change the status quo of mistrust between the two Sunni groups (yes they are considered Sunnis by the most Arab world!).

    As salaam walaikum;

    To answer the questions:
    1. Mufti al-Kawthari studied in Pakistan with Mufti Taqi Uthman and at Dar-ul-Uloom Bury (this is where he gets the title al-Kawthari from) in England under the obversation of Hadhrat Shaykh Yusuf Motala. Both these institutions would be classified as "Deobandi." His beliefs are in line with "Deoband."

    2. As for Dr. Qadri, i dont know him too well but i agree with Br. Abdul in that he seems to be more lenient and more modernist rather than more traditional. His views also seem to be more Barelwi influenced.

    3. I dont believe there is a single prominent voice, because the so called "Deobandi" ulema are spread out across the globe each region having their own voice. I.e. in England people like Hadhrat Shaykh Yusuf Motala, Shaykh Riyadh ul-Haq, Mufti al-Kawthari as well as many many others. In India Pakistan there are tons, dont even know where to start. In South Africa and many other places there are alot, so i dont know if you can pin it down to one person. There are others like Shaykh Abdur Rahman, Shaykh Abdul Sattar etc.

    Walaykum asalam,

    In summary, they have been declared Ahl al-Bidah

    Try the following thread:

    On the Aqeedah of Deobandis, something often used against them was certain statements surrounding the issue of Imkan Kadhib.
