I have a friend who is planning to move to Australia. He would like to know about muslims in Australia, madressahs, mosques etc.
If people could provide some information I would be most grateful.

Hehe. Thanks, I asked Maulana Google, given me a few things, thought people would know other information.
Like Masjids which are more to our way of thinking, where muslims mainly live etc.
I have seen the government website but the statistics seem too low (biased maybe)...

I know a sister who lives in Australia, she is a member of this forum i'll have a word with her and see if she can spare some of her time in giving us an insight about muslims in Australia.
This site might come in handyhttp://www.iisna.com/

Wasalaams sister,
He's not decided at the moment, he is pakistani so would probably fit well with a community likewise. I gave him population numbers..
How is it like there with Islam? Peoples reactions to it? etc ?
He wants to know what it is like living in Australia

wasalam, well depends where u move u see, im in melbourne, alhamdulilah i was born here, the community is ever growing mashallah, and there are plenty of mosques n halal food etc here! the indo=pakistani community has been well establised here for over 30 yrs now. i wear hijab mashallah, and have not had a problme with that. there are also many islamic organisations that have lectures n classes on a regular basis. chek out the site http://www.iisna.com for an example. last week we had a speaker Dr zakir naik, who came over for a very succesful lecfture series, so there is a lot of islam here for a kuffar land mashallah. the diff here than say uk is, that u dont really see islam on the sts, depends where u go, there are places where u get many turkish, lebonese etc and u c the hijabis, and bearded men. Where as in uk u can walk out the door n u see them all over the place lol.
if ur friend is interested and wants to kno more i suggest he get in contact with iisna, they are a non-profit organisation who do very good dawah work, the brothers there are very helpful, and im sure if he emailed them or rang, they wud inform him of wat is available here inshallah in melbourne.
but i wud ask ur friend that if hes in a muslim land, y wud he want to leave? and go to a kuffar land?
i hope this lil bit of info is of use to u, and all the best to the brother inshallah,
takecare wasalam

Alhamdulillah the information you provided is what I exactly needed. May Allah reward you in this world and the hereafter.
I think he wants a change of "scenery" as they say. He's always wanted to move somewhere... I guess Australia caught his eye.
I'll forward him towards iisna and inshallah all will be plain sail from there.
Again, thank you for the information you provided.
P.S thanks to everyone else who helped out too.![]()
