    Default Darood e Taj

    Assalam u Alaikum

Is this the view of the ulama of Deoband on Darood e Taj ?

Question : What do the 'ulama of Deen say in regard to the excellence, merits and proofs of Durood-e-Taj which is established among the majority of muslims especially amongst the ignorant, and in which the following words [=qualities] are ascribed to the Prophet ('alaihis salaam) : "One who repels calamities, epidemics, droughts, ailments and anxieties." Is the recitation of this Durood and accepting its excellence and merits is established/proven by the Shariah ruling or not? Or is it Shirk? or Bid'a ?

Answer : Whatever excellence is attributed to Durood-e-Taj by the ignorant (jahil) is absolutely wrong. And its status is impossible to be defined, until outlined by the Legislator (Holy Prophet) 'alaihi salaam. And this Durood was drafted years after [him]. So how can the reading of this wording (seegha) of durood be declared worthy of reward? To disregard the wordings of durood which are established by sahih hadith and hope for merits in this (durood) and reciting it, is Bid'a Dalaala. And since there are shirkiyah statements (contaminated with shirk) included in it, there is a great danger of misleading the beliefs of masses. So the reading of this Durood is FORBIDDEN. And the teaching of Durood-e-Taj to the masses is like giving them lethal poison, because many people will become victims of contaminated shirk beliefs and that causes them to be destroyed.

    Sallamu Alaikum

This is not the only position of the Deobandi school of thought. Mufti Nawalur Rahman states:

-- These ‘darood’ are not the ones taught by the prophet peace be upon him. These are the ones that are suggested by others and if someone recites them there would be a lot of benefit, which has been witnessed by experience. However, some ignorant people have mutilated the true version of these recitals. Therefore, consult with a scholar so that he may correct it.

Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Barelwi's masterpeice book named "Al amnu wal 'ula" is a reply to this very question about Durood-e-Taaj. You can read it at www.*****************

the Ulama have generally allowed the reading of duas and salaams written by the khalaf however this Durood-e-Taaj refers to Rasoolullah Sallallaahu 'alyhi wa Sallam as "Dafi' il-balaai wal wabaai wal qahti wal maradhi wal alam", also it is said regarding it that it has x amount of reward which cannot be proven.

I have a desktop calender which has one of these newly written duroods on each of it's pages and under one the writer has written "the reciter of this durood will recieve the intercession of Rasulullah Sallallaahu 'alyhi wa Sallam" and on another " the merits of the reciter will be continously increased till the day of judgement" and so on. People are totally unscruplous in assigning merits to things.

    Assalamu 'Alaikum!

Aren't most (if not all) of the Duroods in your calendar written by Ulema and Awliya? Hence, the rewards mentioned have been made known to these Ulema and Awliya.

Regarding Daafi'il bala wal waba wal qahti wal maradi wal alam, please read Imam Ahmad Raza Khan's Al Amnu wal Ula at www.***************** (the site seems to be down at present, but try it soon).

    salaams

alternate versions have the wording, 'yadafi`u bihi al-bala'u wa'l waba'u...'

ie: through him calamity, pestilence, etc are removed. Both are clearly acceptable, of course, because the passive and active meanings have the same meaning in reality, viz: Rasul (s) is the one through whom (his person, his du'a or action) Allah causes to be removed all forms of evil, in this world and the next. The reality of all happenstance in the universe is referred to Allah, but their attribution to other than Allah is done out of tashrif and takrim. ie: its not really the doctor that heals, but Allah, but the doctor is the wasilah, and is honoured as such. This is Ahl as-Sunnah Tawhid and Shirk 101.

This is a function of Rasulullah's status as rahmatan lil `alamin. For example, his being 'the remover of pain,' can be inferenced from the curing of the opthalmia of Ali (ra) at the battle of Khaybar; his being the remover of disease can be ascertained from the narrations of sahaba coming to Ayesha (ra) to gain shifa from his blessed hair after his wisal. As for famine and disease, they fall under the famous hadith that, 'I made du'a for three things, of which two were granted (pestilence and famine) but the third (unity) was not.' aw kama qal.

    more later, insha allah

    Assalaamu'alaikum

Regarding rewards not being proven I am confused as if you go to this site http://www.irca.org.au/articles/qasidah/virtues.htm it lists the virtues of the Qasidah Burdah, and this is written by Ulama of Khanqah Zakariyyah. Is this not the same concept? Wallahu'alam

As-Sallamu alykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

AFAIK there are two types of "fadhail". One is the Ukhrawi, the reward for some action that you'll get in the hereafter, like saying that it will guarantee Intercession of the Rasool Sallalaahu 'alyhi wa Sallam. This has to be proven from wahee, you can't give khushuf of the awliyaa as evidence for this.

The other is the dunyawi benefit for something, this can be based on experience, like the fadhail given for the Qaseedah Burdah

    Asalamu alaykum,

The Salafi's do not, of course, accept this and it forms the basis of, for example, their argument against, for example, "Invocations of the Shadhili Order" by Sh. Nuh: http://******************/inv_shad/invocs_Shadili.html [Not to mention, of course, their misunderstanding various statements of the Ulema]

    Wasalam.
Imam al-Zarqani said in his book Manahil al-Irfan: 'Our Scholars agreed that if a word carries 99 aspects of disbelief and one aspect of faith, it must be interpreted according to the best of meanings, which is faith'.

Keller mentions a chain of narrators who narrated the invocations of the Shadhili order.
That chain continues until it reaches Allah SWT.
they're lying, the authors of the invocations are well known, they're misquoting him. Further on they write:

    In Page 19 Keller says:

“Another of the litanies is al-Hizb al-kabir [The Grand Invocation], by sheikh Abul Hasan al-Shadhili (Allah be well pleased with him), also known as hizb al-Barr [the litany of the land]
In Pages 56, Keller mentions In Da’awat al-sheikh Abul Hasan (the supplications of sheikh Abul Hasan):
In Pages 62,63, and 74, Keller mentions In Hizb al-sheikh Abul ‘Abbas al-Mursi:
So whoever claimed that the Shadhili wazaif are wahi?
