If a person wants to measure his nearness to Allah, he should apply the following formula given by Shaykh Gangohi:

“A person’s nearness to Allah is proportional to his distance from his own ego and self [nafs].”

I prefer not to give out the percentage unless others will share theirs! Although overall it was much better than what I expected, especially as little to zero revision was done. Other sisters that attended had a similar problem i.e little time to go over the notes before the exam. My strengths were aqeedah and fiqh (in that order I think). I missed out a few questions on the sect's section.

    And you?

It is reported from Abu Umamah from the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alayhi WaSallam) that he said:

    اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ

To be honest i was aiming higher for my overall marks, but it was due to the lack of homework i put in, very little amount of time.

But Alhamdulillah, I calculated my exams on Aqeedah is over 90% and my Fiqh is over 90% too...though i couldn't get my overall grading, on this occasion il have to settle for 2nd best.

Masha-Allah sister you got good marks! since it was higher than you were expecting.

May Allah give us the Tawfiq to act upon what we have learnt.

I had some different answers than what was expected, for both aqeedah and fiqh questions, due to my own understandings and "aqeedah" on them from past studies elsewhere. I think that led to a loss of a few marks here and there. Hence the importance to stick to the syllabus that is taught and revise it before exam.

May Allah give us the Tawfiq to act upon what we have learnt.
    ameen.

www.pathtosalvation.co.uk (website soon to be updated with more information)

This is the only systematic, foundation level course on the Sacred Sciences in the UK. Three hours a week, over 18 months, it covers virtually all fard al-ayn knowledge relevant to life as a British Muslim in the 21st century. It is comprehensive, fully modularised and makes use of both modern and traditional teaching methods.

It is taught by authorised and classically trained, British-born, English speaking teachers under the supervision of senior ulama. Over 200 people benefited from the first diet in 2007/8.

The content of the course has been discussed with ulama such as Shaykh Dr Samir an-Nass, Shaykh Gibril Haddad, Shaykh Muhammad bin Yahya an-Ninowy, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Shaykh Dr Afifi al-Akiti, Shaykh Ruzwan Muhammad, Shaykh Abd al-Aziz Ahmad, and others. At a recent launch (in Luton), Habib Umar made a beautiful dua for all those embarking upon it.

Subjects include: Hanafi Fiqh of Worship, Trade and Halal/Haram; Classical doctrine; Good Character and Tasawwuf; the Law and Spirit of Marriage; the Etiquette of Seeking Sacred Knowledge; Methodology of Sunni Islam; Introductions to Quran and Hadith, Shama'il, Sira, Living the Sunna and others...

Students registering will be provided with very high quality, bespoke notes and need only be able to spare 3 hours on a Sunday.

Previous attendees range from 14-50yrs old, and have included university students, professionals, housewives and business people. Many of them are now progressing to more advanced studies of the religion. There is a facility for mothers with young children.

    Date: 2nd Nov
    Time: 5 pm
Place: FR Institute, 97 Drews Lane, Ward End, B'ham B8 2QE

We hope to see you there, insha-allah!

    salams all

my post was actually copied and pasted from the original one on deenport, which i thought would be beneficial for you guys. The course in Birmingham is taught by Moulana Sjaad Hussain and Dr Asim Yusuf, who describe themselves only as 'students of knowledge.' I know that both have studied under Allama Rasool Baksh Sa'idi, as well as some of the ulama of Syria. However, though they often quote and reference their teachers, they don't make a point of mentioning their ijazat and that sort of stuff.

If you would like to know more, they are both very open to questions, so just come along for the induction and ask!

    peace all!
