    Exclamation ANSWERED: non-muslims

    how true is this statement...

if you have faith in Allah and the Prophet SAW and live and practice your life amongst other Muslims. It is very easy to keep imaan strong and you are very rarely tested. But the true test of faith is to live amongst non-believers and share their life and try and understand them for who they are and have Imaan yourself Spending time with non-muslim friends and talking about their faith gives u a far better prospective about ur own. If you sit with a group of Muslims and talk about Islam, They talk rubbish most of the time. They can't read Arabic or understand it or truly understand what Islam is. All they go on about is praying, praying and more praying and then the sunnah. What about the environment, what about your neighbours, what about the other prophets, what about the respect for women in Islam. The gates of paradise are under the feet of your mother.

I will not answer your question, fully, as i hope other knowledgable, members reply and provide thier guidance.

I was just listening to the Daily Guidance, Provided by Sunnipath.com

Chapter 4: Being True, will be quite useful to you, were Sidi Faraz, at that start of the explanation audio, explains how it is important to be true in our inward/outward state, and also find people who also fit that description.

Listen to the talk/daily guidance. And also other ones.

    SuniPath Daily Guidance

    Quite useful. Hope this helps

i feel being broadminded .mixing with non muslims, and experiencing a varied life will inevitably make you a better person /muslim.from gyms and parks and shops etc alhamdulillah i try to give dawah and also learn about other people aswell.we have to be the muslim the non muslim remembers when we get called fundamentalists and they remember your akhlaq.once on a train some young english lads 7 years old were looking at me .i gave them each a bar of chocolate.they went back and their parents were soo happy.how many people will they tell?sorry for ranting on.we live in a 99% kafir country we can beat the media through our actions.inshaallah.

It is true what you say about having a true test of faith. I also believe that you are correct in saying that we must understand other peoples beliefs also and try to guide people towards the correct path.

If you sit with a group of Muslims and talk about Islam, They talk rubbish most of the time. They can't read Arabic or understand it or truly understand what Islam is. All they go on about is praying, praying and more praying and then the sunnah.
I feel that you have generalised here too much. Maybe it is something which you have experienced that drives you to this conclusion. However if we don't work on our imaan and praying constantly and following the sunnah than how can we portray Islam to the wider society?

Praying or ibaadah is not just salaah, zikr etc. A person who brings deen into his life (inc sunnah), everything he does becomes ibaadah or worship. So we need both.
