`Allamah al-Haythami puts the narration in "the chapter on his infallibility (Sallallahu `alyhi wa Sallam) so yes it *does* mean that the Rasool Sallallahu `alyhi wa Sallam had never worshipped Lat and `Uzza no matter what the juhala might say. Also "they used to worship" refers to the `Arabs of the time not the Rasool and his wife, if it didn't there would be no reason for putting it in the chapter of infallibility.
