I saw him on google or youtube the other night. He was participating in a darfur benefit concert of sorts (from what I got). Just looked too....tooo...tooo...hippiesh!

What is it with Caucasian muslim personalities these days?

Yusuf Islam was such an inspiration to me and many others in the 80s and 90's.

    Ya Allah!

Yusuf Islam is not a Shaykh sis. Also, I understand the opinion he is using is a very minor one, but it still upsets me since the majority opinion with in the 4 madhabs is that musical instruments (sans daff) are prohibited.

I can see it being a good dawah tool to the west (and this his sole motivation I believe), but then this goes back to the fact of doing dawah in a legit way. For example, the Sufis in India, though they used musical instruments, they did convert 1000's upon 1000's of Hindus from being pantheists to monotheists, regardless of whether they jammed some qavvali or not. Is this the right way, AllahuAlim. But I'd rather have Muslims who believe and worship Allah who sin a little, as opposed to having more people be in the hellfire for eternity... the bigger picture.

    AllahuAlim

Thats a very ignorant and stupid statement to make and you should take that back.

This, by my life, in analogy is a marvel.
