Default The Jinn and Sh. Ibn Taymiyya [RH]!

    Someone sent me this:

    .

    umm yeah, its interesting stuff!

Maybe sister Musleemah could translate it for everyone's benefit?

Imam al-Zarqani said in his book Manahil al-Irfan: 'Our Scholars agreed that if a word carries 99 aspects of disbelief and one aspect of faith, it must be interpreted according to the best of meanings, which is faith'.

Very interesting indeed! It reminds me of something that I read in Ibn Taymiyyah's biography, that some of his students were fighting the Tatars and they saw what they imagined to be Ibn Taymiyyah fighting in the battle, although Ibn Taymiyyah was in another place miles away at that time.

They went back to Ibn Taymiyyah, and they thought it was a miracle or special "super-power" that Ibn Taymiyyah had, but he denied any involvement in it and said that he knew nothing about the event, then he said that it was shaytan taking his form and trying to fool them into thinking that the pseudo-sufi "shaykhs" can be anywhere that they like to help their followers.

Even though many of us on this forum differ with Ibn Taymiyyah on some of his views - some slightly, some not so slightly - we should at least think about this. It does deserve some deeper reflection, wallahu a'lam...

I've got a few other interesting quotes from Majmu al-Fatawa of sh. ibn taymiyya that i may share later as well.

The shaikh's arabic is eloquent and a bit difficult to translate.

Maybe sister Musleemah could take the time to translate them?

    Are you kidding?
I already have things I need to translate that I haven't yet because I am cramed with so much work...

By they way, you didn't mention the point or purpose of this thread ?
Because I really didn't get the point.

The purpose? Just sharing some quotes from the shaikh for general benefit.
