Among other things:
Shaykh Abu Ghuddah, for all his knowledge, seems to be revered only in Deobandi circles and has made disparaging statements about Ala' Hazrat. To me, Shaykh Ghuddah is a mere pygmy in front of Ala' Hazrat. His patronization of Anwar Shah Kashmiri doesn't carry any credibility.
Followers of Mufti Taqi Usmani cite his association with Shaykh Abu Fatah Ghuddah to trump up former's stature. This very Taqi Usmani recently wrote a piece indirectly (he couldn't do that explicitly since none of that would pass the muster) making the celebration of Milad-un-Nabi impermissible.
I have seen Shaykh Ghuddah's works translated into English by only pseudo-Sunni publishers.
Suffice is to say that Abu Ghuddah's patronization of Anwar Shah Kashmiri doesn't in any way absolve the latter of any wrongdoing..

Brother making cheap shots at Imam ul Asr (ra) is further confirmation of his high stature even amongst our brelwi bretheren. Trying to find the slightest mistake in his armour is what they will try and do and follow in the footsteps of their elders some 100 years ago. 100+ years of the brelwi school has not produced anyone of the stature of Imam Anwar Shah Rahimuallah.

I would beg to differ mate. They may not be in the business of advertising their scholars but trust me there are many good ones.Originally Posted by Aamir

i still think people in general need to remove themselves from this idea that sunni islam is deobandi islam only, or sunni islam is brelwi islam only.
the truth is both groups are considered to be within ahl al-sunna. if you don't like brelwi's because they diss deobandi's, then just listen to the likes of Habib Ali, Sh. Muhammad al-Yaqoubi and others, who don't diss deobandi's but share a lot with the brelwi's in terms of beliefs and practice e.g. mawlid.

This claim is abit over the top bro. Imam Ahmed Ridaa Khan (RaheemAllah) is respected by many in both the east and west. Bear in mind that those who call themselves "brelvis" mainly the lay man in indo-pak, do make some outrageous claims against deobandi scholars. You won't find this amongst the sunni brelvi ulema though.Originally Posted by Aamir

Health Warning: I believe in speaking about the Haq (ahlus sunnah wal jammah) aqeeda brazenly, no frills, no apologies. It may sometimes even be offensive to others!

Could we have some names?Originally Posted by muslim786
