how do the muslims choose their leaders?

i have been looking back at the history of islam and all i seem to see is people claming they have the right ( don't know exactly how ) to rule over the muslim population. and the majority of the muslims seem not to mind and follow those self apointed leaders to their death.

my question is how do muslims elect/choose a leader? within a islamic context (not first by the post, or Proportional Representation).

i also wonder when muslims get their act toghether how should we stop idiots from taking power as we can see democracy gives you fools like bush, how would we develop ( or already exists) a model to only elect decent wise well minded leaders. and if a tyranical idiot was to ever take control of the muslims, how is the best way to stop them from staying in power too long.

it's all coming from colonization. Whatever country colonized a muslim country they are the ones who pretty much put those "muslims" in power. The current leaders and past leaders had one thing in common. They were paid servants of teh kuffar. They were put in power and then followed the commands of the kuffar. That's how they got to power. it's all a political game taht has been played for centuries upon centuries. and if a GOOD muslim emerged then they were killed-aka political prisons. And if you go far back enough look at Imam Malik. he was put in prison because muslim leaders didn't want to adhere to the shariah. so it's either kuffar or shaitan that played in this game.

then we are stuffed, if this is the reality of the world, then we are forever gonna be ruled by dictators and criminal.

not forever bro. don't be so pessimistic. once we establish true islamic rule then this won't continue. we already have secret revolutions brewing in some of the countries. espeically Turkey believe it or not. so this won't continue. Human nature refuses oppression and dictatorship. Hence all the wars that have been going on and the ones still to come.

I don't want to be seen as a pessimistic - but I really doubt if any of these secret revolutions will bring out any good - Has any revolution bought any good, it just leads to chaos and tyranny!!!
