Well, since you asked for it. Here is a karguzari (report) of my trip and experience at the conference.

    The 2nd Annual Tarbiyah Conference

I decided to leave for Southern California for the Tarbiyah Conference on the same day I was to return. Although, to some it seemed like an odd idea due to the distance, Alhamdulillah I ended up back home safely. My friend, Mudasser, and I left after Fajr and reached our destination, Yorba Linda (a suburb of Los Angeles), a little before Noon. Since we got their early, we had some time on our hands. I happily utilized that time by meeting and greeting the various Ulama who had arrived before the public had started pouring in. After Dhuhr and Lunch, the Conference began. SubhanAllah, it was quite obvious the organizers had spent some time in making this happen effectively. All the speeches were broadcast by Video on a big screen for the audience in the back to view and a system was put in place allowing the moderator to communicate with the speaker and other members on the panel without interrupting the flow of the program. The sitting arrangements for men and women were completely separate; in fact the segregation was so effective that in the seven hours I spent there I did not see a single woman in the area. They apparently had a similar setup for sisters somewhere else in the conference center. Alhamdulillah, our ulama are very particular when it comes to these issues therefore kudos to them for allowing the sisters to benefit as much as the brothers did while keeping intermixing of the sexes absent from this blessed gathering. May Allah reward them abundantly for their efforts and give us the ability to walk in their footsteps.
