shaykh hamzah yusuf was always a sufi and sufis have always been warriors of islam didnt he know that? lol
As for his statment about sudden sufis lol well that speaks for itself, he clearly does not know shaykh hamzah yusuf and his sufi teachers one of them shaykh abdal qadir as sufi aka Ian dallas , who is very political as well as a teacher of tasawwuf [ sufism ].
One more thing for this man with his fatwa , when did the sufis leave jihad?

Asalaamualaykum, well dont mean to be rude but that does not make any historic sense , you have the moros of mindanio , the chechen sufi warriors, the sufis of afghanistan and the sufis of bosnia just a few you missed out.
You will find that muslims have been fighting every since world war two and many of them from among the sufis.
and what about the afghan mujahideen - they are from traditions deeply embedded with tasawwuf.
and i hear also of sufis in iraq taking part in the 'insurgency'.

I donot know much about Shaikh Hamza Yousuf although I have hearing about him for a long time now. Can somebody being very neutral shed some light on the Manhaj of Shaikh Yousuf. Is is a traditional Sunni sholar or not? Does he follow a fiqh and whether he has conservative views or is he a moderate.
I ask about this because there are two different opinions about him and I want to know about the unbiased manhaj of Shaikh Hamza. Wassalaam
